Looping, twisting, turning and more hanging upside down

I'm so happy that our kids are thrill seekers, they'd be having such a boring holiday otherwise, holding our bags while Bruce and I go on all the rides!

It was a day of big thrill rides today at Busch Gardens in Tampa. This was a first time park for all of us and we planned on riding the nine big attractions in the park.

Starting with the biggest of all, Sheikra had no queue so we looped round and rode again. On to the water rides to cool down, we got drenched on the Tanganyika Tidal Wave. More looping, twisting and inverting before a family face off on the bumper cars. I don't think I've driven bumper cars since the Shipley Glen fun fair days! (That's going back a few years). It was game on as we all headed for Lily. Good job she's a good sport and has a wicked sense of humour as we all ganged up on her!

Lily has finally cut the umbilical cord and is now willing to sit with Izzy on the two seater rides instead of being glued to my side as she has been for the last 15 years! It means I have a different ride experience from sitting next to cool as a cucumber Lily - I can have a choice of Izzy the screamer or Bruce the terrified too! Speaking of terrified, he was a tad shaky after free falling from 55 feet on Falcon's Fury! Not a regular freefall ride, before the drop from the 55 foot tower, the seats tilt so you are facing the floor and swing back to a seated position before reaching the ground - pretty terrifying when you are left hanging waiting for the plunge!

As I write, we are currently sitting in line for Cheetah Hunt, a fast acceleration roller coaster. The ride is currently closed while we wait for the lightning storm to pass overhead, but oversized games such as checkers and connect four have been passed around to relieve the boredom. They are well prepared for the summer storms that hit Florida on a regular basis. I have no idea why I even bothered with my hair this morning - first go on a ride and I looked like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards, topped off with a water ride and I was styled to perfection.

It's difficult to choose a highlight today - there's been so many rides topping the list. This particular ride that we are waiting for our second turn on is definitely one of the contenders. A less hectic schedule is on the agenda for tomorrow with a visit to Discovery Cove. Snorkeling, swimming with dolphins and relaxing in the lazy river will be the order of the day ?
