Ok, up early for breakfast as Jodie's not letting us miss that shuttle. Departs 8.55am.
We didn't reach Walt Disney World (Disney) until 9.45 which is just a ticket office. But a ferry and then a bus later we make it to Hollywood Studios (10.50am). The upside of the bit of rain is that the parks area empty, all the employees are saying make the most of it. After the debate to change to Magic Kingdom, we stayed with our plan. Enough waffle, onto the good bits....
First we did the Great Movie Ride which was very lovely.
Then onto the Indianna Jones Stunt Spectacular which was really interesting.
Toy Story Mania ride was THE BEST!. he competition was on to shoot and get the highest score. Jodie won the first round. Decided to go back through again, perhaps 10 minutes waiting time. Graham won the second round. Such a cool ride.
Looked at the Star Wars movie as well.
Keeps raining off and on but its not too bad.
Disney has announced that the park is being closed tomorrow (Friday) and will now close tonight at 5pm due to the hurricane so we decide to walk to Epcot (rain and all but we were mostly
lucky). We were all quite taken by the World Showcase. Each world is quite lovely. Norway was the cutest.
The first ride we did was 'Soarin'' which had a small wait, but negligible. We were all blown away by this ride. What words were used to describe it.... 'the most fantastic non threatening experience of my life' 'awe-inspiring and breath taking' 'indescribable' 'amazing'. It was like flying over the most spectacular things in the world, especially the whales, polar bears and icecaps in Alaska/Antarctica.
We also did Mission : Mars. This was by far Ella's favourite ride and Kirsten's least favourite.
By now its 4pm and it just keeps raining. Finish walking the World Showcase to head out of the park as everything is closing up, including some of the other rides. Sadly, no Illuminations for us tonight. By 5pm when we reach the end of the park, its just constant rain. Ferry back to Hollywood Studios to catch an Uber.
Mores surprises to come. All the supermarkets are closed. Pretty much everything is closed, restaurants, pubs etc Even Maccas and Burger King who claim to be open 24/7 365 days per week are closed. We managed to find an Indian Restaurant that
was open and agreed to do take out. Nothing is open. The crowd managed to convince a gift shop to open back up to sell drinks and chips etc. In the hotel, we've all been told there will be limited services tomorrow and to fill up the bath tub with water. We're taking precautions but not too worried. This is to be a category 4 or 5 hurricane and will potentially be the worst storm proposed in Florida's history (based on the predictions).
With nothing open and nothing operating tomorrow will prove to be interesting. Although we're very disappointed it' hard to complain when there's so many here that have been evacuated. Anyway we have passports on hand, additional cash (thanks Kane) and bags packed at the ready in case.
