Hurricane Matthew over Magic Kingdom castleHurricane Matthew over Magic Kingdom castleHurricane Matthew over Magic Kingdom castle

This wasn't taken by us as the park was closed at 5pm on the Thursday but this was published. But this shows the dark looming clouds of hurricane Matthew over Magic Kingdom.

Supposed to be at Animal Kingdon today, but its not open due to Hurricane Matthew.

Everything is closed. Schools, public transport, all shops, outlet shops, delis, everything.

They say that there was millions of dollars damage along the coast, but there wasn't much on the news that showed any significant devastation. We had rain and wind, but we didn't notice anything in the hotel. Have since seen some reports of lost homes and roads washed away but it turns out the eye of the hurricane didn't make land, so it wasn't as bad as expected.

Done nothing. Hotel is full of people that have been evacuated due to the Hurricane. As there is no food available the hotel has been very good and they put breakfast on again for lunch and again for dinner. We scored potatoes instead of eggs and they added some muesli bars.
The continental breakfast here is quite good as it does include a bit of bacon, boiled and fake eggs plus pastries and cinnamon buns.

Upside is that we didn't spend any money, finished my book and we are well rested. That's all I've got.
Interesting fact.....Disney World has been operating for 45 years and in all that time, it has only closed four times in its history. Three times previously for hurricanes during September and then for the tragic 11 September event. So never in October and not in 11 years has it closed.
