blog 02-20-17 Happy Birthday Lisa
I was laying in bed having coffee when something outside caught my eye. I had the door open with the screen closed and I saw a rainbow in the tree overhead. Of course I grabbed my camera with the small telephoto and after looking at it determined it was a perfect spider web with the sun hitting it just right. Focus was an issue as well as exposure but I played with it quickly as I knew that perfect angle of the sun was short lived. I did get my big lens out and snapped a few with it but that was really hard to hold and focus. I think one is perfect from the big lens, crisp and full of color. What an exciting way to start the day.
Watson finally got me up and out for his walk and we walked around the whole campground. I did stop and talk to a couple from NY that I had met yesterday and they have to move their site today too. I am moving from site 7 to site 6 just across the street. It is still occupied so I decided to see if
I could get phone reception somewhere. Someone told me about the observation tower so I loaded my phone numbers and brochures and of course the camera and drove to the area where the tower is.
It is located on the edge of an open field but well hidden by a giant oak tree, very well designed. As I climbed the view got better and better and when I got to the top I forgot about phone calls. There were 2 bald eagles souring overhead, an osprey and several vultures. The field itself was beautiful and there is a canal that leads to the lake. I had a ball snapping away and finally got to my phone calls. I made a reservation for tomorrow to go on an airboat at 10 am. So I will have to get up early to walk Watson so he won't be mad at me for leaving him.
I got a few really good pictures of the vultures flying overhead which was quite a feat since my camera won't focus on birds in the sky. So I had to focus, expose and catch them in the lens. Lots of practice.
I came back
this one has 3 rainbows.
I have never seen anything like this in my life! to the campsite just in time to move over to my new site. It went well and I was able to set up Watson's fence, lay the carpet, get the chairs out and get mostly settled. The inside of the camper still has sand in it, have to find time to sweep it out.
I rested for a while, played fetch with Watson and just relaxed. As the sun was going down I decided to take advantage of clear skies and the ranger's advice and go to the equestrian field. The sun going down and back lighting the grassed was just toooo beautiful. Pictures
Then it was on to the wooden bridge and catch the sun and the canal. Wow, it was just gorgeous . More pictures.
Back at the campsite it was time for dinner and editing my many photo today, fun.... The hardest thing to do now is to decide what pictures to post on the blog. Oh what a problem.
