Free Breakfast at Cracker Barrel
Thanks, Sam & Sandy....it was great That's how our day began...actually it was last night but pay-up time was today. After gorging ourselves at Manny's (last eve) plus sipping the gallon of whiskey they brought me, we made our way back to RV land. Cory and Sam had their plans made: watching some big football game. Fine....Sandy and I can finish up our chatter (the acoustics at Manny's does leave a bit to be desired: Huh? WHAT?). I couldn't hear a thing you all said and couldn't read your lips either. Probably why I got so loud and acted out a tad. Not me: it was Candy. After our chatter session, we got on our IPads and were lost in Internet Land. To make the game even more thrilling, the guys decided to do a wager. Winner chooses his team and then team winner gambler man pays for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. They drew from a deck of cards to decide who would take what team. Cory drew first and got a four card. Sam giggled cause he knew he would be the winner and could have his choice of teams......WRONG! He drew a two card. Cory took Alabama and Sam got Clemson. It was an exciting
game but at the end...."that's all she wrote." Alabama won (Yahoo) so breakfast would be on Sam (Yahoo). We did a happy dance while Sam just watched in awe and sadness. Sandy sings to him "Not a Winner, Not a Winner." She says that every time they check their weekly lottery tickets, too.
We went to bed planning over and over all the nourishing, abundant FREE food we would order. Even planning that it also included gift shop buying. We couldn't sleep just knowing what a thrill we would be having in the morning....Christmas in January. Dear Santa Sam, please give us........the list is way too long to even start printing it off. And believe me, we weren't dreaming of sugar plums in our head. We were dreaming of their BIG breakfast, their "to die for" Coca-Cola cake, anything else that caught our eye as well as the gift shop items. We are more than excited. Bet you are, too. Bet Sam & Sandy aren't. Don't feel sorry for them. They won our Super Bowl bet last February and we had to be their limo service, servants, provide then gifts and pay a $300 bill at The Cheese Cake
Factory for them. But they are worth it and we told them so are we as they were checking the seats of their car for loose change.
First, we all went to Tuesday morning coffee here at the park. Cory had our car running cause we were anxious to get to the Cracker Barrel and start getting our mother load. We got Sam's window seat. First they ordered......after a half hour we were then able to order. The waiter had to call in a back up person, he got to exhausted taking the order. But that's another blog.....one thing you will take from it is to be sure and ask for center cut biscuits and don't accept anything less. Our breakfast was fabulous. But even more fabulous is being with these lovely, giving, generous couple. "There are Good Ships and Wood Ships but the Best Ships are Friendships". When Cory came to his seat, he had the large Cracker Barrel shopping bag. Sandy's normal big eyes got even bigger.....just like in the movie "Big Eyes!" Sam just started coughing and gasping. He knew Cory had completely filled it up....but Cory just pretended it was loaded with goodies.
Fat
and happy, we ran a few errands - one being to Wal-Mart. Yippee. I went one way, they went another while Cory spoke to our son, Cory, on the phone. I raced around and got most everything. Couldn't find Cory or the generous couple while looking for them around the check-out area. Having drunk a full coffee pot and large glass of water at the Cracker Barrel, Mother Nature started to call. I began doing St. Vitus Dance until my shoes wore out. There was a lady standing along the edge with her cart so I asked her to watch mine for a minute. Before she could answer, I was like the flying nun sailing through the aisle to reach my much needed destination. Whew....it was close. I offered her my gyrating gratitude. With a few more stopping spots (it is now after lunchtime), we made it back to our RV's. It's like a days adventure just running errands. I'm glad you like to be on the go with us. Tell us when you've had enough.
Sam and Sandy are expecting company today. We are, too. This is the other winning part of our day. My cousin Paul and
My cousin Paul and Clare are here!
Cory, me, Paul and Clare AND Lulu Clare are arriving later in the day. They are flying from British Columbia. They will stay with us for awhile. Yippee. We can hardly wait for their arrival. Lulu hasn't stopped watching for them out the window. She is so excited. She keeps flashing our lights on and off so they can find us. If she had a horse, she would be on it riding through the streets like Paul Revere announcing "the cousins are coming, the cousins are coming." Stay tuned to the blog....we will be on some good adventures once they arrive.
To add to the winning atmosphere of the day, our friends Lois and Mike came by. They used to live on our site until they moved to another RV park on Rt.27. They are fun folks and we enjoy them very much. Lois dressed so appropriately! She had a shirt on that said "Lulu's." I can't even describe our Lulu's reaction. Crying and laughing at the same time....sounded like a choking sow but the tears in her eyes said it all: joy, pure joy. She threw herself onto
Lois 's lap for the photo shoot. She wanted to go home with them but they knew she would be too much of a handful to deal with. She begged them to come back. Please come back, Lois and Mike
Hallelujah, Paul and Clare have finally arrived. Clare called once they were on our road to Tropical Palmd to say they were close. Cory met them at the entrance and guided them to our site. Absolutely wonderful to see them both. Paul is my cousin (I only have two cousins) and Clare is his wife. They are from British Columbia, Canada. They are terrific people. I wish you could meet them. Nothing less than what we would have expected, they pulled up in a new 2016 red corvette (rental car). Geeze......slick. You know who is nagging to go for a ride with them. Lovely Lulu. Paul said he would give us all rides. Yippee. We gave them the Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang) tour of the motor home so they knew where and what everything is. This is going to be fun. They hadn't eaten nor had we, so we jumped in our car (corvette is only a two seater) and headed off to Cracker Barrel. A Deja Vue experience but no Sam to pick up the check.....Hey, Sam ......where are you? We actually were seated at the same window seat we sat at this morning with Sam and Sandy (the bet losers). What a thrill to be back there now with Paul & Clare. We ordered quickly (ahem...cough, cough, Sam) and devoured the scrumptious delights easily. Then, to top off the bounty, we ordered "the one of a kind", the "to die for" Chocolate Coca-Cola cake. We are in heaven now with chocolate goo all over our faces. Even Lulu....Miss Slop Face. Life is good! We headed home after this pleasant gathering. What a magnificent ending to a wining day. Glad you all could join us. Hope you liked it has much as we did. See you all tomorrow.
