You just never know what treasure you will find at a Dollar Store. We stopped at one for the ongoing search for my special macaroni and Sam’s cereal. I think that’s becoming a lost cause. WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!! WHOA!!! Nope, no macaroni or cereal but something way better than that. A real live treasure! Here we ran into our dear friends, Mike & MJ. Remember them? You have met them before. Mike was one of Cory’s college roommates at the University of Buffalo. MJ is Mike’s wonderful wife. Through Google Search, Cory made contact with Mike a few years back. They live here in Florida close to The Loop. What a great reunion we had when we realized we were in each other’s back yards. Well, Looky, Looky! Here they both were. Right in the middle of the Dollar Store. It was just by happenstance that they even stopped here. Oh, lucky us. It was so joyous to see them again. We had been thinking of calling them but put it in our procrastination box. They both had had some health issues so maybe our delay was meant to be. Soon we shall reunite and spend some quality time with
them. Lots to catch up on. Yippee!
We seldom plan ahead as to the “special treat of the day”. We seem to find that last minute plans work the best. Okay....what shall we do today (Tuesday)? Hem & Haw. Yeah....that sounds good. We decided to “go in”. That’s the term used by annual pass holders when going to Disneyworld. Ray taught it to us. He and Saray very frequently “go in” to Epcot Center to listen to the Mariachi Band. Now it was our turn to “go in”. It was close to lunch time so we ate at snack home. Remember, Disney thinks everyone that visits has a million dollars in their back pocket. Their food and souvenir prices are out of this world! We arrived at Hollywood Studios. That was the park we planned to visit. Ok with you? Nope! Change of plans. We are flexible. You, too? Instead we all boarded the Skyliner for an enjoyable ride over various parts of Disney’s properties. They are very accommodating for the handicapped. Sam scooted right on to the gondola super easy. And we were off. We changed gondolas at the “hub” and headed to Epcot Center. Thank goodness for
our flexibility cause at some point we took a turn and boarded a nice boat that sailed us to The Boardwalk. Cory and I had never been there so it was neat to see a nice place that has the ultimate Disney experience. Sam & Sandy had told us about it. We took advantage for some photo ops. I know, I know....your next question is “where is Lulu”? To get into Disney parks, we have to hold our annual pass holder watch next to a device while placing our finger on a special reader. You tell me why Lulu can’t partake in this magnificent fun park. No arm for her wristwatch and no finger to place on the machine. She has so many limitations but she understands and handles everything well with her strong will and constitution. Mickey & Minnie will never get to meet her. Their loss!
After a stroll along the boardwalk, we boarded the boat again. We took it all the way to Epcot Center. This wasn’t the park we initially planned to visit but remember, we are flexible. They still had their Food & Wine Festival going on. They had “food specials” offered at each
country.....reasonably priced for DW. We passed. We have tried to visit Mexico when their Mariachi Band is playing. Unsuccessful each time. Cory said it looked like a big hike to walk to Mexico.....I truly believe that! We trotted along just to see some of the park. Nothing is really new. WHOA!! .....what do we hear in the distance. No not banjos! Be still my heart......we can really hear the tunes of the Mariachi Band in the distance? We are now moving at ramming speed. Out of the way park goers. We have a important place to go. Forget my little limp.....I’ll drag my leg like Quasimodo if I have to. Sam is flying....he has a new battery in his scooter. Yes, Yes, Yes! We are in Mexico and have found the famous band that Ray & Sara have told us so much about. Hallelujah! They are as fabulous as we have been told! MARAVILLOSO!! Oh, if only I had a sombrero to dance around. Wait!! What’s happening?? I’m ecstatic. They are posing for photos with us onlookers. I threw myself right in the middle of all of them while Sandy took my picture! What a souvenir this makes! Oh, happy
day. Cory bumped up to them looking like part of this magnificent band except for his outfit and lack of instrument. Oh, well, maybe I can fix it up with Photo Editor later on. Ray and Sara are such important people in their fan club that they know the names of each band member. Of course, the band knows Ray & Sara very well. Lucky them. Before we left Mexico, we hopped aboard the quaint boat ride inside the building. It’s a fun ride and makes you feel like you are really in May-e-co. Hurra!! Back on a Disney themed gondola and we were flying off to Hollywood Studios. In the beginning of this adventure, we planned to go to this park, remember? Change happens! Our day at Disney was fun but enough was enough. We dragged back to the car. Hope you all had a festive time visiting this part of Disneyworld.
Our pleasurable delights continued on. Our dear friend, Mike, had sent us a text about getting together. Absolutely! We rang him up and set our reunion at Cheddars on Rt.192. Mike had recently arrived at Lake Magic. Cory put the pedal to the medal leaving Disneyworld.
I know you all know Mike. He used to be at a Tropical Palms and his site was between us and Sam & Sandy. Then the sorrowful day came when he decided to move to Lake Magic. Oh, how the tears and slobber poured down our faces. Fortunately, we all stay in contact with he and his beautiful wife, Terri. Remember they came and visited us this summer in Shongo? He said Terry was arriving today so hopefully we all will get together this weekend. It was super to see Mike again. I tried one of Cheddar’s speciality drinks. Why do I do that? It looked mighty tasty in the picture. Just like at Frogger’s, the room started to spin around a little. Candy tried to sit with us but I shooed her away. No one wants that mess to be in their presence. I have to stick with my flavored ice water from now on.
More to share but we’ll save it for another blog. You have a lot to absorb with this blog. I don’t want to burn your eyes out. Plus....now you have something to look forward to. Yippee. See you then.
