I’m slowing up. At least, you have had a lot of time to rest and catch your breath. My tardy publications are not by choice.....all because of the opportunities to sit down for a few, undistracted hours seem to be few and far between. Time to give it a shot right now.....here we go. Turn up your volume if you can’t hear me.
We had a wonderful evening last Sunday. Our granddaughter, Rachael, was in Orlando to give a speech about her research on Endocrine Cancer. She is working on getting her PhD at the University of Alabama. Her hotel and convention were in the Hyatt Hotel (used to be The Peabody). She said this was the largest convention in the world for chemical engineers. Just from walking along the sidewalk, I believe it! They were crowded just like the mobs at Disney. It was terrific to see her and go out to dinner together. Our visit was short but will be cherished always. We love you, Rachael, and are so proud of you!
Enjoyed a full day of shopping at some of the Big Box Stores! My dream-come-true. Hoping the rest of our group feel the same. Started
out at SAM’S. Partook in a picnic lunch there of their enormous hot dog and drink for $1.50. Tasty! Cheap!
Onward to Target. Trying to find the macaroni called ancini de peppe that I use to make a salad. Have gone to EVERY store all around....no luck....none! Why? Why? Can’t be everyone else in this Mecca are making this delicious salad! Checked numerous Publix stores...zero, zip, nada. Rechecked at my most favorite store....you do remember which store that is....right? Walmart! I love Walmart! It disappointed me, too. Whhhy? Ended the day at a junky thrift store. Sam was on the hunt for an old wooden cane. No....not for his own personal use. He wanted one to pull open and push close his “factory work compartment” drawer under his RV. This big, heavy drawer holds all his equipment and trinkets that he uses to make his unique cannons. If he can’t open for business...no cannons will be made! Dark clouds will hang over all of us if that happens. The compartment has to be opened!! Tons of crutches but not one cane in this muddled thrift shop. Eventually, he decided he could use a golf club instead....99 cents. Worth a
try. Cory selected a nice one for him. If it doesn’t work as a grabber, Cory could always use it on the golf course. Exhausted: our day ended.
‘Member how Cory had to work on our dying golf cart? He tried everything he could. We bundled up (a cold wave is passing through....brrrrrr-low 70’s) and took it out on a test drive.....clunk, grrrrr, groan, die....Sandy & I had to get off again and walk home.
Cory called Cart Zone (where we store the golf cart when we aren’t here). They brought new batteries, took out the old and put the new ones in....right at our site. We are in business again. Cory says it has more power than ever. Now, he could become an Uber golf cart driver to take folks around in this park. Not a bad idea...what do think? Call: Uber Cory!
Our morning coffee clatch in the lobby continues. Just look how the group has grown! Wonderful! Each day we wait to see if another friend will show up. On Tuesdays, Nicki Jo has resumed our main coffee gatherings. It is a time for her to share what is going on at the park
and for all of us to see our old friends and make new ones. I did my “Sandy’s Snippets” again...keeping it down to two hints so I can’t drone on and on......booooring! Zzzzzzzzzz.
My turn.....again! Yep....I had to return to our eye doctor to have my right eye lasered open. I had my left one done last year so knew what to expect. It’s a painless procedure but noisy. Sounds like he is tapping out the Morse Code. Everything is very clear and bright again. So many fun things to have done to your body when you get old! No one is laughing!
Oh dear....it’s a rainy, cool day. What to do? Hmmmmm.....easy peasy. The four of us decided it was movie time! We piled into our car and drove to the end of International Drive. Here, at the old Artegon Mall, is the Cinemark theater. We especially like this movie theater because it has the comfy recliner loungers. We saw the movie “Good Liar”. It was good...intriguing. The man next to me had an annoying (infectious?) cough! The woman next to Cory had a similar hack! Nice! We felt like we were in the middle of a
tuberculosis sanitarium. I had a hood on my rain coat and pulled it way up around my head and face hoping to shield myself from his contagious droplets...eeewwww. I wished I had worn a burka. Pray I don’t get sick! His wife gave him a lozenge that stunk like Listerine dunked in vinegar. On top of that, he snacked on some sort of rotten stinky cheese that smelled like toe jam. Nice! I’ll never be the same. Feel sorry for me? I hope so. Lulu was so glad she wasn’t with us. She is so fragile and it doesn’t take much to put her down.
After going through a sterilizing shower in the theater’s restroom, we drove over to the Premium Outlet Mall. As shocking as this may sound, only Cory got out to shop at the Reebok store for new sneakers. The rest of us stayed back in the car. No, we weren’t sick.....just no desire to fight through the crowds pushing and shoving at the maze of shops. We noticed a new parking option in their lot. They have always had valet service. The rest of the spaces were just by chance if you found an open
one. Now you can pay for your own parking space:$3.00 for the first 2 hours then $3.00 for each additional hour. You have to do it all on your phone. To get in one of these spots, after you pay, you tap “Let me in” to lower this device that is in every parking space. You pull your car in over this flattened device. It seems tricky to me. What if it fails and tries to come up under your car and gets lodged there? I don’t think we want to try. BUT empty sites here are in the premium. Cars just sit in the aisles waiting for someone to come out and get in their car and leave. It is unreal! Hope Walmart doesn’t come up with this new, weird, pricey idea. Noooo- Wally! Noooooo!
Closure time. No big plans for this week but I’m sure we will come up with something. Don’t want you to get restless or bored. So, keep you dial tuned to your favorite blog station for the latest news and updates. Good night one and all. 14 photos to review!
