In our cabin mailbox arrived a warning notice: our port call at Key West would be during the annual Fantasy Fest. Passengers were cautioned they might see some outrageous things ashore! Overseas Railroad Station

Reconstruction of a portion of the Florida East Coast Railway Key West station. The station was the terminus of the FEC Overseas Railroad from mainland Florida through the Keys. The building houses a museum. The Overseas Railroad (1912-1935) brought tourism to the keys and Key West. DSC_0856

USCGC Ingham (WHEC-35)

USCGC Ingham (WHEC-35). Treasury-class United States Coast Guard Cutter launched in 1936. Ingham participated in convoy duty during World War II. A museum ship since 2009. DSC_0956

East Martello Tower. The martellos were built in 1862 by Union forces during the Civil War. "The military built environment was augmented by many structures, the most noteworthy of which were two small masonry forts called Martello Towers, built on the island's southern shore to protect that uninhabited area".
