Brilliantly written by: ROBIN The count-down is on! Carolyn and I are bustin' outta this joint in sixteen days. I don't know about Carolyn's family, but I'm sure mine still has a million questions. So pop some popcorn, put your feet up, and get comfortable-- welcome to Tunisia 101: Where, What, and Why the Hell We're Going. I'll try to cover the FAQ I get all the time, but comment if you have more, and Carolyn and/or I will clear it up for you! NUMBER ONE The first questions I get asked: WHERE is Tunisia? WHAT is it like? Is this an African safari deal, or will the students be trekking around in the desert on a bunch of grumpy camels? Well, it's kinda both. Tunisia is a small African republic, roughly the size of a ... read more

Obfuscator writes: We left our campsite at Killen's Pond State Park, and drove into Dover. Dover has a great many museums and things to look at, particularly for a city that doesn't seem to be all that big. The first stop was the capitol, as we always enjoy seeing them when we can. Delaware's capitol was a bit strange. For one thing, they called it Legislative Hall, and it seemed a lot smaller than many we've seen. I guess this shouldn't really come as a major surprise, since Delaware is pretty small. That wasn't the only strange thing though. The building also has unusual architecture, which makes it look distinct from the typical American capitol design. Instead of a large dome and all marble construction, Delaware has basically no marble, and a smallish cupola atop their ... read more

Obfuscator writes: We awoke to a fairly nice morning in Ocean City. I trust that it had rained in the night, since we got the motel on that assumption, but by morning, it was only a bit cloudy. We took a short walk to Ocean City's Boardwalk, to see their beach. The waves were crashing in pretty large, and we could see surfers further down the shore. The beach was much cleaner and nicer looking than we had seen in Atlantic City. It actually looked like a place you might want to take a swim, you know, if it wasn't late November. Ocean City didn't have much that would keep our attention long. Like I said, if it were a nicer time of year, perhaps. In November Ocean City looks like a long strip full of ... read more

FAMILY REUNION IN LEWES DELAWARE. Not quite all of my family got together for not quite a week at the beach. I love family gatherings, formal and informal. (Also, apparently with all your help, all my blogs are back online and all is well in the technical world for the time being. I will make my own back up again. Thanks to everyone who helped.) I just got back last night from Philadelphia. I've been traveling with my sister around Phila. and then spent a week at Lewes, Delaware at a Teller family reunion. It was wonderful. I've avoided organizing any of these wonderful events, but I've been informed by my siblings that I can't avoid it any longer. It's my turn! We rent four cottages a block from the bay and a short distance from ... read more

After remaining a bachelor for over forty years, my cousin John decided to marry his girlfriend on their farm in Pennsylvania. I could not miss this, so off I went for the weekend. It always seems like such a good idea at the time, but the resulting jet lag is a bit much. This time, however, it was well worth it. The ceremony was great, made even more so by the fact that my brother officiated. I’m always so proud of him when I see him preach - he is a real natural. He made the ceremony really fun and personal. It was a very special time. We spent the rest of the day eating and catching up with the family. I hadn’t seen his sister, Jane, or her kids in over six years, so there ... read more
