Geo: 39.5728, -107.536On Saturday, we drove along I 70 towards Sherrie and Steve's place.We stopped by to visit Jan and David Craycraft in their Frisco home. I used the bathroom, and we visited about our upcoming stay later in the month. They mentioned that on Wednesday, they would be driving to Ohio for a family reunion. Jan showed me her time in the garden and the weeding.We arrived at Sherrie's place as Steve was cooking out hamburgers. We ate, then Sherrie drove us up in the local national park.I wasn't feeling too well, and had to use the port a potty several times.When we returned home, I vomited and had diahrea. From I-70 at New Castle (Exit 105), go 2 miles west and south on County Road 335 to County Road 312, and then 1 mile south (left) to the north end of the property. Parking areas are located on both sides of the road and well-marked with signs. Garfield Creek State Wildlife Area is approximately 13,172 acres (20.58 sq. miles or 53.31 sq. kilometers) and ranges from 5,556 ft to 10,532 ft in elevation. Storm King Mountain Memorial Trail (14 photos) When I joined the park service as a wildland firefighter the first three days of classes were spent spent dissecting what happened here...On July 2, 1994 lightning sparked a fire near the base of Storm King Mountain 12 firefighters were unable to outrun the blaze and perished. Two more helitack firefighters were also killed as they tried to flee to the northwest The Storm King Mountain Memorial Trail, closely following the actual path the firefighters hiked to fight the blaze, leads visitors to the site. Plaques and memorials line the trail explaining the events and paying homage to those who fell.
