Dean catches the first 2 trains leaving Durango today
Dean walked over to the Durango train station this morning to see 2 steam trains depart. Today was beautiful and sunny while we did a 4 hour jeep tour. We saw beautiful mountain views, some marmots, a young doe and 2 fawns, and some random grazing cattle. We ttok the tour with another easterner, Sue from New Jersey. Turns out she fixes tack, her husband is a horse dentist, and her son is a farrier. Her daughter is a professor in environmental sociology at Ft. Lewis College here in Durango. It was nice to have a small group and we had fun holding on for dear life especially as we descended the mountain. We topped of the night with dinner at Steamworks Brewery and a nice walk on Main Street Durango. Lots of people in town getting ready for the USA Pro cycling ride that starts in Durango this weekend.
