For our last day in Sydney, after Jonny had left us, we did very little but see out our visit to Australia. The flight on the 6th was the longest one that we have had so far and I did try to sleep, but it didn't happen. I ended up watching five films and not a lot else, resulting in it being very confusing when I landed in California having had no sleep, but the time being 9am. We met up with Luke after a 20 questions session with passport control and after realising that none of my cards were working, thankfully got Luke to buy me a train ticket to Powell Street, Union Square. The sun was shining in Union Square, but the temperature was definitely not warm unless you were standing in direct sunshine, ... read more

well its not a midnight train, more like a midday flight to Georgia. I have been applying for an internship in Georgia since March and I finally got the email last Thursday saying I got it! So now I have 8 days to pack everything and get my s*** together and leave for Tbilisi. I will be interning for UNICEF, so it should be an experience :)... read more

Hello Everyone!! Evan and I just got back from San Francisco where we spent four glorious days enjoying the 1/2 sunshine 1/2 rain & torrential down pour. We arrived late Wednesday night, and took a cab over to our friend Henrys house, he lives in the Marina district and a really nice neighborhood, which we walked through bags in tow because we had the wrong address..woops. Took a tour of his apt (very nice) and his roof deck before hitting the hay. Thursday was supposed to be the only sunny 'nice' day in San Fran so we hit the ground running. We woke up, ate breakfast at The Grove (yummy!) and then took a nice long walk to Fisherman's Wharf where we rented a tandem bicycle. If you know anything about me, its that my bicycling ... read more

Golden Gate - byens varemerke.
En del av byen ble etter jordskjelvet i 1906 bygd opp i gammel stil. I bakgrunnen den mer moderne Down-town.
Det norske eksportrådet hadde konferanse i byen.

5th March 2011 Our penultimate day. What a glorious day for it, the sun was shining there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, it was pretty still and very warm for San Francisco. We had a plan for the day, which was to go to the farmers market, and also to visit the “crookedest street” (Lombard Street) so after a complimentary breakfast at the hostel, which consisted of some toasted muffins for me and some bagels for Lou, we headed out into the sunny city. I had thought we were going to go to the farmers market and come back via the cable car and Lombard but Lou had the opposite idea so that was what we did. We were only a couple of blocks from the cable car (which is incidentally nothing like a ... read more

3 March 2011 Our last road tripping morning of this trip. The plan for today, to make it from San Luis Obispe to San Francisco, The Foggy city. Opposite the Travelodge (which looked, from the outside, just like the motels that you see in movies. I was slightly concerned that the bad guys were going to burst in with guns at any moment but the town was a little sleepy for that and, in any event, we had left Hollywood far behind) was a garage and it was time to fill up. This isn't an event that would usually justify entry in the blog but today was different. All petrol stations in the US seem to be pre-pay which caused us considerable confusion, particularly since the pump wouldn't accept a british card as payment. Eventually, ... read more

Although I had thought of buying the one day transport pass to economically take at least one regulation cable car ride did not even manage that. Confined to the room with the need to book myself into some hotels in Dallas. Due to the labrynthine hotel bookings available via various providers this is a bit of a jungle and you almost have to look at 3 or 4 providers. I have previously used Booking.com as you only give your card details as a deposit guarantee against no shows. Anyway enuf frittering on details – this has gotta be seriously speeded up as it is now 31 Jan and I am in Fort Worth. I think now some Quick text and more pix – which some (ahem) might prefer. Decided as I had the BART ticket, and ... read more

This is a catchup written on AA1964 on 29 Jan on a flight back in time to Dallas, aka DFW – Dallas Forth Worth after the regional airport. As JFK was actually killed in 1963 the flight is just one digit out. That aside what else happened in SanFran after my initial blog you may ask? Well I almost have to ask the same question of myself as it was pretty non-productive as a gung-ho tourist – I aint in that category – blame my post flight jetlagged normal lethargy or whatever. Thursday 27 Jan – I was simply really slow and tired after the foolishness of having black coffee at the Garcon restaurant after lychee cocktail and a Californian white then a ditto pinot noir, and logging on at the hotel and not going to ... read more
