Hello Everyone!!
Evan and I just got back from San Francisco where we spent four glorious days enjoying the 1/2 sunshine 1/2 rain & torrential down pour.
We arrived late Wednesday night, and took a cab over to our friend Henrys house, he lives in the Marina district and a really nice neighborhood, which we walked through bags in tow because we had the wrong address..woops. Took a tour of his apt (very nice) and his roof deck before hitting the hay. Thursday was supposed to be the only sunny 'nice' day in San Fran so we hit the ground running. We woke up, ate breakfast at The Grove (yummy!) and then took a nice long walk to Fisherman's Wharf where we rented a tandem bicycle. If you know anything about me, its that my bicycling skills are not nearly as good as Evans, therefore, I was in the rear, no breaking or steering necessary. 😊 We rode for hours, all the way along the coast over the Golden Gate Bridge and then down a HUGE hill to Sausalito. The ride was amazing it was so beautiful out. We watched surfers catch some nice waves right by the bridge
(one was body surfing, Jamie you would be amazed by her skills) and then headed over to Sausalito. Such a cute town right on the bay, cute shops, small quaint town with restaurants right on the water. Evan was amused and entertained by this guy who could stack and balance rocks on top of each other. Not just any kind of rocks, big, small, weird shaped rocks. Very interesting. Pictures below. We only saw him drop one in the 10 minutes we watched him. Pretty neat. After riding around the little town we got shrimp tacos and enjoyed them on the ferry ride back to the wharf. What I forgot to mention is that Thursday was St. Patty's Day. So after returning our bikes, we walked up (when i say up, i literally mean UP the steepest hills) to lombard street, (where we walked down and tried not to fall) and then all the way over to the Financial District (bc we couldnt figure out the bus times bc of the holiday & there were zero available cabs) where there was a big block party going on. Very fun, with a band. Grabbed some dinner & headed back at a
reasonable hour. We were too pooped to party. Friday it was raining. Like walk outside in a raincoat and jeans and come back in 5 minutes later completely saturated. Evan of course brought waterproof pants.. where I bought an umbrella. Didn't stay as dry as him, unfortunately. We ate breakfast, drove all around the city and then went to a seafood restaurant that I had heard/read about named Swan. HOLY SEAFOOD. We ate local fresh oysters, crab louie (with a heaping huge portion of crab), clam chowder & beerrr. After completely stuffing ourselves we picked Henry up from work and went across the bridge, but this time in a car, to Marin (where Henry's from) and to the Muir Woods to see the gigantic Red Wood trees. WHOA. If you haven't seen red woods, you def. got to. We walked around for hours, then went to a local beach where we just about froze our asses off & then went back to Henry's to clean up for our date. Evan took me out to eat at this little Italian restaurant called Ristorante Milano where we had delish Italian food and Umbrian wine. Really.. Local Perugian wine. OMG. From here we
walked all around Nob Hill and over to the Hotel Monaco where we were to meet the wedding party after they finished the rehearsal dinner. SO great to see everyone, especially my cousin Lauren & her hubby Alberto and the BRIDE TO BE. Got too drunk, whats new and had just a good ole time. After we got kicked out of the bar, we decided to split up and head our separate ways, ours included going to see Evan's other friends that were in town Salina and Andre. Very fun. Nice to see them, for what I saw of them. Anyways, went right to bed --- Saturday is WEDDING DAY! We woke up, packed up and headed to breakfast near our hotel for the night; Mark Twain Hotel -- Ate a yummy meal with just Lauren & Alberto and then headed over to the Hotel Monaco to begin the primping process. I DID FIND OUT AT BREAKFAST THAT LAUREN NICOLE AVIROM IS NO LONGER A VEGETARIAN. I JUST ABOUT POOPED MY PANTS. Big news people. I pretty much drank champagne all day in my sweats watching the bride and all the bridesmaids get beautiful. Very exciting and fun. After about
5 hours of this I was able to check myself into the hotel and get my ass all primped. Evan, spent all day with his Camera taking pictures. EXACTLY what he wanted to do.
At 5 pm the wedding guests were picked up from The Hotel Monaco in a trolly car and driven to the wedding venue, called The Galeria. It was a large building 4 tall stories tall, with galleries on most sides, where in the middle was one (4 story tall) room which could be viewed from all 4 floors. The wedding and reception were in the same area, but it was split up by cocktails and hor 'oeuvres on the second level.
Firstly let me just tell you how fancy this wedding is by telling you, the bride was in a Vera Wang dress that cost $400 to SHIP from NYC. Everyone looked spectacular. The bridesmaids were in black silk dresses with green dangly earrings. Her theme was light green (the pretty one, not the baby shit one). The ceremony was short and sweet, her brother married them and they exchanged vows, everyone cried. After the 20 min ceremony we were ushered upstairs for champagne, a
gigantic cheese plate (YES) and all sorts of bite size yummies. Once they had downstairs all setup we went down there for dinner, toasts and everything else that comes with it.. including open bar & a 10 piece band. SOO FUN!!! The band was all dressed up in purple suits and looking sharp and sang just about everything. By around 11:30-12, the fun was over and I was about to cut off my feet because they hurt so bad. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING. WHOA. Abby you got style gurrl.
Sunday was another fun filled day, woke up on the later side got picked up by Henry and was met by Caitlin Phelps (so good to see youuu) where we went to the Ferry Building (indoor farmers market thing) for a bottle of champagne (this was my thing for the trip i guess) and more seafood. We walked all the way down the pier where we found the ymca promoting summer camp, so we played with hulahoops and jumped rope for a while 😊. Eventually we made it to Haight Street, the old hippy area and then to Golden Gate Park where we hung out and played cards and frisbee.
As our last hooray of the trip, we went to In n'out. OH MAN! I love in n'out. Just love it.
San Francisco, I love you! You were so good to Evan and I. WE WILL BE BACK. Great times and Memories.
