Today was a long day of flying from one airport to another. Nothing exciting happened.
We left our hotel just before 9am and drove to the long term parking lot at the St Louis airport. We flew from St Louis to Denver, Colorado – uneventful, small plane, baby crying in the back off and on. Took about 2.5 hours. We slept off and on.
We got to Denver and walked from B89 to B45 gate – that's basically 45 gates. What a pain in the arss. We took the train to the C section so Kamie could smoke in the one teeny tiny smoking lounge in the entire airport. We ate an extremely overpriced meal – we shared a grilled chicken/avocado sandwich and six hot wings. I downed about three glasses of iced water with lemon. Flying dehydrates you and I was feeling that today.
Next we flew Denver to Los Angeles. Our flights today were both First Class. I wasn't impressed and wouldn't pay the little fee to upgrade with United again. Delta, sure. United, no thank you. First Class has better seats up front, free water/soda/drinks constantly, and some sort of food. That's the only difference I noticed today.
The first flight had a snack box which was good. This second flight had a full meal which neither of us ate ~ cold grilled chicken with cold corn salsa, pita chips and some really hot salsa. I downed all my wine and most of Kamie's just getting the salsa heat out of my mouth. Flying into Denver was ho-hum but flying out, we flew over the beautiful mountains and I snapped a couple of pictures. We used our headphones this flight ~ I watched an entire episode of Elf from beginning to end! I love Elf this time of year. Kamie watched The Guardians of the Galaxy. They had DirectTV on our little TVs. That's the first time I've seen that on a plane.
Los Angeles was pouring rain all day, including when we landed. The landing was the prettiest I've ever made into LAX because we came in after sunset and flew right over the beach to land. There was still just enough daylight to be beautiful outside. Once we got on the runway we had to taxi forever before they couldn't find an available to park the plane. It was pouring rain during this time. We finally got off the plane and we were at the baggage carousel with our luggage in hand within minutes. We took the shuttle to Hilton LAX. We've stayed here before and we like it because the third floor is smoking and the rooms have sliders which open-up to a big plaza of outdoor seats ~ Kamie can smoke out of there or as is the case tonight, he just sat in our sliding area and tried to urge the smoke to travel outside the room. It didn't work. I really hate his smoking. We walked next door to Carl's Jr and he got a burger, I got chicken strips. Neither of us were hungry so I think that food is laying somewhere in our messy room right now. We are going to bed early, again. We sound like old people but early in Los Angeles (before 10pm) is just before midnight in Missouri. No shame here.
