I didn't stay in L.A. for very long, but i managed to see the main bits of hollywood. April Eden was kind enough to let me stay at her place for a couple of nights - really nice to be able to just chill without worrying about organising food and accomodation! April is a model/actress/stuntwoman, she's a friend on April Hunter so that's how i got in contact with her. She lives in West Hollywood. It took me about 2 hours to get from the airport to her place, mainly because i took the wrong bus (i blame the americans driving on the "wrong" side of the road! :P) Anyway, i got there eventually. I got chatting to her boyfriend Hans and it turns out he's in a Prog Metal band and that they were practising ... read more

The last few days have been a blur, but a very fun one. We set off for Venice, whick I think is one of the most beautiful cities on earth. It truly is a city for lovers, perhaps more than Paris. Don't get me wrong, I love Paris. But Paris is a large, working city, whereas Venice really doesn't have much other than it's beauty and charm. I'm really glad that it was out last stop in Italy, since by that time we were both tired and it was nice to just look around and soak up the scenery. We only went to one museum, the Guggenheim, and it was so refreshing to see some modern art for a change. Saw some excellent Pollack, but I really enjoyed the Miro, Kandinsky and Klee. If I never ... read more

Hi folks! Well sadly last day today :O( And what better way to spend it than visiting the Movie stars homes and other landmarks in Hollywood!! Firstly we went on an open air trolley bus and went around Hollywood visiting the famous sites such as the Hollywood Bowl which is the largest amphitheatre in America and has been host to some of the biggest acts. We then drove on and got to view and take pictures of probably the most famous sign in the world "Hollywood" which was originally called Hollywoodland, but the land came down in a landslide. The sign was originally erected by an estate agents of the same name to advertise to everyone in the valley to buy homes in the hills. Each letter stands 45 ft tall so a pretty big advert....lol ... read more

Hi Guys & Gals, Last full day and once again the weather is s**t, with a high of 62 degrees today. Unfortunately a large proportion of the states is having some diverse weather and we arrived just in time for it......wahoo!!.....not :O(. The only good day was Wed. and so we missed most of it due to the football, which was a small price to pay considering the outcome :O). We went to Universal Studios today. The weather was pretty overcast with prolonged showers so we had to buy jackets :o/ Did a few different rides/tours than the one in Florida, like the Backdraft show where pretty much everything blows up and gets quite hot, The movie tour where we were taken around places where TV/films were shot, like Desperate housewives' Wisteria lane, Earthquake & Jaws ... read more

Hi All, Thought we'd have a leisurely day today and so headed for City Walk which is next to Universal Studios. We had a hidden agenda because they have a cinema there and went to watch Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull, which was really good fun :O). After, we went for a stroll around City Walk soaking in the atmosphere. We ended up having a spot of lunch at Bubba Gump's restaurant, where I had yet another small desert......OMG!! ;o) see photo. Upon returning to the hotel we decided to relax by the pool. No sooner had we sat down, it clouded over and started to rain lightly, that's when it all kicked off :O/ After a couple of lightning flashes and a clap of thunder that sounded like a bomb had ... read more

Arrived late on the 20th. We walked up the road for something to eat, we went to Jerry's a 24/7 restaurant, quite weird on two fronts really, 1) no one walks around here so we were the only ones on the streets a bit eerie and 2) sitting down for a meal at midnight. I guess we were still on Hawaiian time...lol Wednesday. Really haven't done much today as we had a fantastic night sleep, it's quiet and beds are sooooooooo comfortable. Didn't get up until 11.00am and turned on the TV and tuned in to watch Man Utd v Chelsea champions league final :O) we got up too late to get to a british pub called the Fox and Hound......lol What a game and great result, unless your a Chelsea fan then you must be ... read more

Kate: Well we made it! and so far our trip has been brilliant. The flight- surprisingly ok. 11 hours flew by and we had the most amazing seats with loads of leg room thanks to Steve's work friend Toby-it made such a difference we were so chuffed. AND also i have been proven wrong- what you say??? Kate wrong- never, but i am afriad i am. Plane food can actually be really nice. The first time remember to bring a little packed lunch with me because i have always thought plane food was MINGING and this was actually....dare i say it nice, in fact lush! New Zealand lamb curry (obviously never as nice as your mum) with rice and a pasta salad starter- really good! Anyway our First stop was L.A. We arrived late at night ... read more

Day 1 Arrived in West Hollywood, at 10.30pm (7am England time), flight was delayed but wasnt a problem, the flight itself was great, watched films, played games and ate (yes even i ate the food - i had curry lovely!) The Orbit Hostel was dull and boring from the outside, needed a lot of work inside! But it was clean and just what we needed. oh our room had the most uncomfortable sofa in the world! Day 2 Woke up at 6am to rain! Could not believe it! We were expecting sunshine! We decided to head out and get breakfast! Ended up in Coffee Bean on Sunset Boulevard where we met Rita - an ex-pat from Peckham wierd accent wierd person. She told us to go to Santa Monica and Venice Boardwalk because it is best ... read more

So we left the beautiful Highbridge & Burnham train Station at 1.55pm on 10th October and arrived at our hotel in London at 9.10pm. So thats over 7 hours on good old public transport (including a taxi driver who took us to the wrong hotel...). That's quite impressive when our flight to LAX took just over 10 hours! Between us we watched 5 films, 3 top gear specials, family guy, countless Simpsons and read books and magazines... oh the fun! When we finally landed it took ages to get through customs and collect our bags from the ever friendly American Border and Immigration Control. So imagine our delight when it took nearly 2 hours to get from the airport to our hostel due to LA traffic. But it was made entertaining by the taxi driver who ... read more
