After almost 20 hours flying time plus 6 hours waiting in Sydney we finally made it to Los Angeles at about 5pm local time. We caught a shuttle bus to our hotel in West Hollywood, called Vibe Hotel, right on Hollywood Boulevard. It had a great atmosphere, and is set up specifically for backpacker types such as us, so we didn´t feel too lonesome! The boulevard is much more run down and dilapidated than I expected - broken footpaths and homeless people wandering around. Kathryn and I wandered up the street spotting stars with names we recognised (stars on the ground set into concrete - not actual live stars!), and laughing at the crappy costumes of the celebrity impersonators in front of the Chinese Theatre. We finally finished up in an Irish pub til one am. ... read more

Today is our final day in LA and our final day in the U S of A!!! We went to Sunset boulevard to find Amoeba Records, the best music shop in the world, or so the Americans claim!!! Had a good wander and look at memorabilia. For food we went to a Greek cafe, I had Chicken Souvlaki, Laura had a Greek Chicken salad. Good!!! Walked to Hollywood boulevard for the bus and saw the set up of Premier of "Ninja Assasin" pretty cool with red carpet. Did some shopping in a few thrift stores, Laura got a dress, nought for me!! We had tomato pie from "Tomato Pie", and a massive slice of chocolate cake each, very yummy! Time to pack for an early flight to Japan!... read more

Still under the weather Laura left me all alone and she hit the shops and brought me some drugs home to perk me up. She also brought me some chicken and bean burrittos, what's superstar eh?!??! In the evening we went to the cinema to watch "men who stare at goats", wierd and funny. ... read more

Cheerios and tea for breakfast, photo upload and blog time. Strolled to the farmers Market, where dinner was Mexican sopes. Ellen was filming near the shops and some other show, popped in a dog adoption centre on the way home and saw some blue American pitbull puppies which had heads twice the size of mine at 2 months. Had tea in the Tiki garden at the hostel and some beers and watched som VT in the party room.... read more

Well it feels like coming home! We start recognizing bits! Banana Bungalows are rocking! At least we can drink here and are actively encouraged to! A little wine, a bit of TV, and an early night. We are up for breakfast and getting some directions to the airport so we can drop the car back. A pretty straight run and we are at the airport, which is where the fun begins! We find the budget car return place but cannot for the life of us figure out how to drop the car off, no one is around so we drive around until we see someone else just drive in, pull up where all of the other cars were and magically someone appeared, took our mileage and signed us out! Bus to the local bus stop and ... read more

We got an early limo to the airport, had a big juicy BK breakfast then 50 mins of airtime to LAX. A super shuttle took us to our accomodation (Banana Bungalow), west Hollywood, via the very fancy Beverly Hills. For tea we took a stroll to Santa Monica boulevard and ate at a gay bar called Hamburger Mary's, our bill came in a silver stilletto. Laura had a avocado burger and I had chicken fried chicken, which had a free chilli starter, massive. We had some beers the went to French Market and had Blue Moon, and Fat Tyre, good stuff!! Long day, off the bed.... read more

Hej igen.
