Well we had nothing planned for our last day but there was one thing in the back of my mind we might do and that is shopping at the outlets in Citadel. After breaky I make sure they are open, and then arranged a hire car at the Budget place right across the road from our Hotel .
It took about 30 minutes to get there and the freeways were flowing OK in our direction anyway.
We went to most of the shops here but Luke was looking for an NBA jersey and they had none at all. What !!! I actually thought this place was of less quality than what we found in Denver and certainly not up to the Las Vegas standards we have seen before.
We finally ask someone where we can get NBA jersey's and they gave us two addresses (one was Dick's sporting goods at Pasadena and the other was much closer being some shopping centre nearby). Kerry rings Dick's to find oout they are open until 9.30pm so we decide to plug the local one into Mr Tom Tom. One problem though is we don't know the name of the shop !!
We decide to go to Pasadena. Now you might remember a song that John Paul Young used to sing in the 70's and he was right. It's a long long way to Pasadena. The lady at Citadel wrote the address down for us and wrote 3359 e Foothills Boulevard, Pasadena on a post it note.
However we did not put he stupid little "e" in Mr Tom Tom so we ended up at some Pizza Place about 45 minutes later. Kerry jumps out and asks if they knew where it was and they said it was at last 20 minutes away ! Great as she comes back I realise we did not put the "e" in which stands for East.
I chnage the address and we head back at least 20 minutes along Foothills Boulevard and w eget there and the place is huge and yes they have NBA jerseys ! Blake Griffin from the LA Clippers # 32 it is. In reality with the extra fuel and stress it took to get here we would have been better off ordering online !
The traffic was shocking as we headed back to LAX. Kerry was getting
frustrated with the freeways with everyone driing crazy (including me !). We went back passed Dodgers Stadium where the game was just starting and a blimp high in the sky, and passed downtown LA where we saw the Staples Centre where the Lakers & Clippers both play.
We got back to our Hotel to drop off the car and had dinner at the restaurant inside. I had Calamari and Fries but was not the best meal of the journey. Kerry had the quesadillas which looked much better.
Back to the room for a final pack, and the shuttle to LAX to catch our flight home. 11.5pm scheduled but actually took off at 12.30am after we waited for New York connecting flight. I caught two movies on the way back Act of Valor was really good but Iron Lady was rubbish.
The plane food was good again and we had a really good flight home arriving in Brisbane at 6.30am on Sunday 15th July. A great holiday, lots of fun, glad to be back home. Soon back playing golf and needing to get a job !
