19th & 20th April 2010 Hey Mickey you're so fine West from Indio to the outskirts of LA at Pamona, the Fairplex KOA (right by the Los Angeles Showground). Did we strick it lucky or what? After the previous couple of days sitting at the MCC and observing all the 45ft plus Motorcoaches, we pulled into the campground only to find that part of the showground next door had an RV display on! Well, wild horses couldn't have kept us away. It was a two minute walk from our pitch to the otherside of the campground and through the pedestrian gate into the show. The first one we went it was for sale for $239,000 (reduced by $100,000) - it was all a bit bling for our liking, leather ceilings, leather seats and probably a leather ... read more

29th March We had a great time at the Mighty Ducks v Dallas Stars on the 29th. Hot dogs and beers. Bumps and bruises. We had fantastic seats. 3/4 line, 6th row from the sideline. We could see the grimaces on their faces as they were slammed into the perspex. They were honoring a player named Selanne who was celebrating 600 career goals. A mammoth effort apparently. Lots of Cougars with their "come on baby, get it in" OMG how embarrassing. ... read more

28th March We arrived at LAX at 1:20pm an Sunday afternoon. (note to self - ensure all relevant docs are completed prior to lining up for 20 minutes in Customs). Fell asleep in shuttle from LAX to Jolly Roger Hotel (residual sleeping tablet effect). Hotel old, but clean. After settling in, Wayne, Ash and I took a walk to Down Town Disney. The mullet and Kate plus 8 hair cuts are very popular - as are harry high pants and long socks with sandals. 29th March A big day was had on day 2. Spent the day at California Adventure Park (forgot the sunblock, so guess what?). Went on the Grizzly Rapid Ride and got soaked! Ash peer pressured me into going on to the Tower of Terror. That was fun! Califormia Soaring was magical - ... read more

After the delightful whale-watching I motated back toward the LA area on the 101 (instead of the more scenic Hwy 1 I used on the way north), to the 405. I'm surprised after all this time away from Calif, I still feel comfortable driving there, even tho it can be annoying. Sometimes it's less annoying to use one of the long, straight surface streets. My destination was the Villas at the Grand Californian (VGC) at Disneyland Resort; it's between the "California Adventure" park (CA) and "Downtown Disney" (DTD) and an easy walk to Disneyland (DL). VGC is part of the Disney Vacation Club timeshare system (I bought some points there last year), and is very lovely. It is part of the GC hotel. It has a very well-done Arts and Crafts era theme (which one of ... read more

Monday Jan 4, 2010 Warner Bros Studio and Forest Lawn No alarm, had bkfst in room, then set out for “north” Hollywood (Burbank) - straight up I-5, not too much congestion. Got to WSB fairly easily and made the 11:40 tour ($45.00); guide was Tetris (yes, like the game). It's a “cart” tour, mostly riding, with some walking around inside (TV show - Chuck) and outside sets - lots of “this was filmed here, and that was filmed there.” A lot of it was about current TV shows that I don't watch, but enough other stuff thrown in that was fun (some Friends stuff that my daughter would enjoy)- went by the soundstage for The Mentalist (my favorite new show), alas no Simon Baker. Saw some props, some nifty movie vehicles, heard lots of interesting stories ... read more

One Valium was not enough for me as we made our way through the Brisbane international airport with Kynan… Not that he was naughty or a pain, it was the realisation of the fact we were taking an 18mth old on his first long distance flight to a country we had not been. Seriously, what the hell were we thinking? We had a star spotting moment before we even left Australia. How’s this for a bit of embarrasment - Behind us in the line was Troy Cassar Daley - I said to Mark, hey that man behind us is familiar do you know him? Cause I smilled at him and his wife and they smilled back. Mark’s reply was one of laughter and of mocking me. Opps, looks like the bush has finally been taken ... read more

Our very first ride at Disneyland was the Finding Nemo submarine ride. We waited in line for 30 minutes in the drizzling rain for this ride. We were expecting it to be awesome, it was so lame that even poor Kynan fell asleep during it! (See the pics!!) Lucky this was the only ride that was not great - the rest we went on were awesome! Kynan in particular is a little thrill seeker - he went on everything from Dumbo, the teacups, Buzz Lightyear, Haunted mansion, Space Odyssey, Roger Rabbit and many more! The cheeky sausage loved them all. We loved the holiday version of "It's a small world" it was gorgeous!!! We saw the ride at night all lit up with christmas lights and festive attire. Disneyland sure knows how to put on a ... read more
