The Grand Canyon!!!!!!!!! Well Flagstaff first. Got in at just past 12, so couldn't get a free ride to hostel but as I had called them a couple of times before they knew I was coming late so left my key in the mailbox and put me in a private room instead of a dorm. I couldn't get into the room coz the lock was knackered so had to collar some woman into who I thought worked there into sorting it. Got in and slept after a long time and in preperation for an early start to the Grand Canyon! Got up and ready in time, sorted out payment for rooms and canyon tour. An english woman worked there, sounded posh but didn't talk posh if you get me. She was pretty nice though and soon ... read more

Finally arrived in Flagstaff after yet another Greyhound bus delay to find some tramp asleep and snoring on the steps of the bus station - looking good! Made it to the hostel safely and heard the most horrendous noise - the freight train - which sounded like it was coming straight for us, like something out of a Roadrunner cartoon. And then we found out it comes every 15 minutes throughout the night. Joy! But we soon got used to the noise and it didn't stop us having a great time in Arizona. Flagstaff is a cute little town surrounded by mountains and is full of friendly people. You can literally walk around the whole town in half an hour. But the main reason we were there was to go to the Grand Canyon. Michael, our ... read more

Going home Well, I'm wrapping up my last few days in Flagstaff, generally avoiding packing up and acknowledging that it's over. I had a pretty relaxing last weekend up here, basically just having dinner with Seth's family on Friday and Saturday nights and watching Walk the Line at home (my last Netflix movie before Seth took over my account). For the non-Tucsonans, I forgot to mention that Seth is my friend from law school, and we are both working up here at the public defender's office, and thus are roommates, and thus spend 24 hours a day together, and thus are both excited for a month of traveling separately. Of course, I will miss him (no one to get the mail every day for me anymore). On Sunday I went out to Prescott with my capoeira ... read more

This week everyone in the office went to a conference, leaving Seth and I with not much to do but beat on each other and check our email. So, after debating for the last 2 months, I decided Brazil is where I want to spend all my money. Capoeira is too addictive to pass it up for Puerto Rico or some other beach. I havent told my parents yet, but i am going to call them tonight. They will probably be ok with it, I guess, but since they were non refundable tickets it is too late. I have the worst travel itinerary in the world -22 hours with 3 changes of planes each way. But it was.. affordable (barely). Now I have to get a visa, which involves sending my beloved passport to an ... read more

The only way to describe LA is a total hellhole! Why anyone would ever want to go there is beyond me! Flight from New York was a bit faffy - no one seemed to know where we should check in, eventually we had to use self service check in and spend the whole 6 hour flight worrying that they had not put our luggage on the correct flight. American Airlines are poor compared to British Airways - on a 6 hour flight, they did not offer any meals for people in economy class (you could buy crappy snacks though) and the cabin crew spent the whole flight arse kissing the business and first class passengers. I expected LA to be bad, but it was much worse that I thought it would be. You actually cannot ... read more

Herefter gik det ... read more

Mon, 19th February 2007 in Sedona Every day so far, has been tiring. Days zap by seeing & doing so many things. Evenings fly off on the drive. Nights are just a memory. Navigating to our hotel in the dark was not very enthusiastic! I think I woke up in the night often to the whistling of the train. Night was too dark to see any tracks. Thought would figure it out in the morning. Surprisingly, I was fresh in the morning. Got up to the train whistle again. I could not take it anymore. I got up to see a train going on forever(never seen such a long train in my entire life) just about 30 yards from our room. uh oh! Enough surprises there! Day was cold, but we were all geared up. We'd ... read more

We waved goodbye to Vegas and drove to Flagstaff, stopping off at the Hoover Dam. It truly is great driving along in the sunshine with the hood down. In the afternoon we were in 70+ degrees and then arrived in Flagstaff smattered in snow - how weird. Flagstaff is a great little town, with lots of character and a really good night life. We only last until around 11.00 p.m. but the atmosphere was great. ... read more

Once again my wife and I have decided to get out of town and go on a last minute trip. We spent about an hour after work deciding where to go and making plans. Our chosen destination is Flagstaff. From there we plan a day in Oak Creek Canyon and a quick detour on our return home for a few hours at the Grand Canyon. The challenge of the trip is finding activites where we can bring our dog Taz. We arrived in Flagstaff around midnight and I was pleased to find the hotel in a nice area with several hotels and shopping nearby. We stayed at a Motel 6 in the Woodland Village area near I40 & I17.... read more
