I think I left off on Monday evening; no bears at Alison Point! Tuesday morning we had reservations for a glacier & marine wildlife tour to Columbia Glacier through Prince William Sound out of Valdez. What an amazing day & experience! Our captain was a wealth of knowledge on the history of Valdez, the big spill from the Exxon/Valdez in 1989 & life in the sound! I am going to say this was the highlight of our trip so far; although we loved the glacier landing in Denali & halibut fishing too! Columbia Glacier is the second largest tidewater glacier in the world & “calves” very large pieces of glacier ice almost daily. We felt like we might have been on the Titanic as our captain very carefully maneuvered our vessel through huge icebergs. The incredible blue color in the icebergs was unbelievable as the picture shows! It was an outstanding day with my honey in Alaska😊 The staff on the boat harvested glacier ice for us; it was so crystal clear! Wednesday morning we traveled north to Tok, Alaska, where we were planning to stay last night. We started driving east on the Alaskan Highway & decided to drive a couple hours on down the road to shorten our drive today, so we stayed at a Yukon Provincial Park last night, no electric or water, but it was nice and private. (Mike adds & cheap, $12 Canadian, $10 US😊 Today we drove to Whitehorse & arrived here about noon. Our rig was very dirty after driving through two gravel stretches on the Alaskan Highway today so we washed the RV when we arrived here at High Country RV Park. After lunch we had the oil changed in Mike’s pickup, which included a wash, at the GMC dealership, so we are nice & clean tonight😊 We were on this stretch of highway a month ago when it was rainy & today the sun was shining so we enjoyed great mountain views. As I write this blog, we are throwing money in clothes washers & dryers, but they did a good job on the laundry & the price was not too bad; $12.75 Canadian. Tomorrow we plan to stay in another provincial park for 3 nights, so we will be “off the radar”. Until next time…….
