Got back to Puerto Vallarta Jan 3 from our New Years in Tehachapi, bussed to LaPenita. So nice to be home. Last spring I had met with the dental team in LaPenita. I had 5 crowns that were ancient and needed replacing. The Dental Team comes to a dental office in LaPenita. Dr Errendera is the Prothedontis (crowns and veneers) and her husband is the Endodontist, root canal man. So far I have avoided the Endo guy. I had an estimate of all this work at home so knew it needed doing. I had to have lengthening of my teeth. I thought I was pretty long in the tooth but I guess not long enough. The Periodontist came to LaPenita and I met with him on Jan 5th for my lengthening. The anticipation was terrible but ... read more

We are back in the USA and loving every minute of it. First meal in Ajo was a feast of Chinese food. I'm sure not the best but it tasted mighty fine to us. We left LaPenita on March 21. There were 6 rigs including us. A few more then we had thought but with the recent violence in Mexico getting closer to our area, we all needed to stick together. We spent 2 nights just north of Mazatlan exploring a little town off the beaten track a bit. We then drove like hell to San Carlos and spent 2 nights there. We all decided that it was way too long a drive and we must remember for next year but remember the horse and the barn door story . . . . . . . ... read more

I can't believe how neglectful I have been with my blog. We are still in LaPenita, Mexico but the park is clearing out by the day. I bet 50% of the rigs have pulled out heading North. Some take days and some drive like Hell to get across the border. It is a little like the horse when you head back to the barn, there is no stopping them. We leave here next Sunday, March 21st. We had thought we would take a week or so to get across the border but we need to be gone from Mexico by the beginning of Passover. The Mexicans travel in droves on this holiday causing great chaos on the roads. We will be across the border into the US by about thursday of that week. The winter has ... read more

On Thursday we hopped a bus north to go to the market at La Penita, which is the commercial town that serves the town of Rincon de Guayabitos which is right next to it, connected by a walking bridge (yes, another swinging bridge). For those of you at work, Guayabitos is the place that Jason Liggett stayed when he went to Mexico around Christmas time. Anyway, the market was three to four times bigger than the one in Bucerias, with much more selection and many different items. Have a look at some of the fantastic pictures that Steve took at the market here. Once again, the colors, the sounds, and the smells almost overwhelm the senses. It took us a couple of hours to wander through this fascinating place. Then, tired and hot, we found a ... read more
