Okay, so wow. I am writing from an internet place within in walking distance of my house. Yesterday, after my last entry I ran into a group of students and we all walked around for a bit together. If yesterday when I wrote, I was a little anxious I had a 180 degree turn around when I found other students and wasn´t alone anymore! We checked in with our program dicector, Miguel who is super awesome. He told us that there was a special celebration in downtown Morelia that night to celebrate the Cathedral and also told us some good places to eat. So, at eight, I walked with a literal mob of american students about ten blocks to la catedral. the police had blocked off the street, people were selling balloons and cotton candy ... read more

I have arrived safely to Morelia. The flight was easy although I made a friend who helped guide me through the airport. it turned out that eventhough an airline employee told me over the phone that I could take 50 kilos in my suitcase, I could only bring 25 when I was at the airport. so i had to pay about 30 us dollars to get my luggage on the plane. (and i thought i was packing light). Its warm here, muggy even. I was just sitting in a plaza and the old stones in front of the church held all the heat from the day. It was nice to stay in one place for a minute, I really cant wait to meet my host family, or any other students for that matter. so far ... read more

ENGLISH Our route from the butterflies north to Chihuahua to catch a train through the Copper Canyon was chosen because we liked the sound of a few cities on the way: Queretaro; Guadalajara; Guanajuato; Zacatecas. In the end we swapped Guadalajara for Morelia as Guadalajara was a bit out of the way Either way here's some photos of what we found FRENCH Après les papillons accrochés aux arbres et les églises à moitié ensevelies par la lave, nous avons mis le cap plein Nord pour des villes aux sonorités qu'on aime bien: Queretaro, Guanajuato, Zacatecas et Chihuahua.

Hi guys, Well here I am in Mexico for Thanksgiving with Dad, taking lots of pictures, and I thought I would share them with you (plus I get to color in another country on my "Places I've blogged from" map). I flew from Philadelphia to Houston, where I met Dad for our flight to Guadalajara. We got to the hotel, which is cute as can be, at about 9:15 p.m. and settled in. The next day Leno, our guide in Guadalajara for many years now, picked us up at 7:30 a.m. to drive three and a half hours into Michoacan, a state neigboring Jalisco (which is where Guadalajara is) to its capital of Morelia. Morelia is a fantastic colonial city with great plazas, amazing churches, and a great atmosphere. We kind of pottered around Morelia for ... read more

Mexico celebrates Halloween, the way Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. They get a day and a half off. This year Dia De Muertos was on a Thursday, so we didn't have school on Thursday or Friday. I decided to stay in Pachuca on Wednesday night. I went out with my neighbors. My friends told me about a party that they were going to after work. I met them around midnight... and one of their dad's drove us to the party. But it ended by the time we got there. So I ended up eating tacos with her and her dad until 2am. It wasn't a party, but free food was involved, so that made it awesome. On Thursday, I made my way towards Patzcuaro, Michoacan. It is supposed to be a huge party to celebrate dead relatives. But ... read more
