I had no internet in mexico whatsoever. AM I had an amazing sleep last night; the nerves have started to shake off a little, this whole going away thing is STARTING to sink in. Not there yet though. Dan felt too homosexual to sleep in a bed with me. I planned it to a tee, just enough sexual innuendo with him to feel uncomfortable but not enough to think I’m gay: a queen sized bed all to myself. I figured Is start of the vacation with some eggs benny, no better breakfast. Things kind of just coasted through the morning, gave me time to check-out the girls before we had to check-out of out room. Jorge showed up with Vincent from last year and I could have sworn mark walked in the room. Way too funny. ... read more

How the hell did I end up back here? It's hard to pass up an opportunity to cross the border, and the Mexican was the easiest to cross from San Diego, so why not? Tijuana it is. Chris and I met up with Mark in the hostel and hopped into the car moments later. The plan was without a map this time as we figured we could head south until we could drive no further. We had actually read up that it's a better plan to park in the States and walk over to avoid any insurance issues. Unfortunately we missed the last exit and proceeded to join the line up of cars. I hopped out to ask an official where we could turn around and was very quickly reprimanded for exiting the car in a ... read more

Tijuana is a bustling city on the Mexican side of the US-Mexico border. Any visitor going to San Diego will definitely make a trip to Tijuana, since many things in Tijuana (e.g. culture, cuisine, language, shopping, etc) are different and often cheaper than USA. Of course, I won't miss the opportunity to step into this small part of Mexico and experience a totally different atmosphere... (After visiting Tijuana, I can tell my friends that I have visited Mexico. Haha.) The Greyhound bus from Phoenix to San Diego reached S.D. Greyhound depot at around midnight. I wanted to visit Tijuana, but the sun would only rise around 7am or 8am and there was nothing to see in the dark. Hence I stayed in the San Diego Greyhound depot and spent my night sleeping in the waiting area. ... read more

also as a way to update where i have or have not been, I spent a week this past summer working in TJ (Tijuana as the rest of the world knows it) building a house for a family. It was crazy, because we were only about 30 minutes from the border of California, and only about 45 minutes from my house on the other side of that border, and yet all the houses in this area were made with garage doors, scrap wood, whatever they could come up with. And here we were actually building a frame for the house, and putting up stucco, and taring the roof to make sure it didn't leak... they had the nicest house on the block, built in a week, by a bunch of kids from just across the border... ... read more

Well we woke up in Rosalito, headed BACK to Tijuanna, somehow navigated the city and started east. Arrived in Tecate, which is actually a really awesome town. They make the Tecate beer there, it's a small border town that I would take in the future over Tijuanna. We gout our VISA's sorted out there because we were a bit flustered the night before crossing into Tijuanna at sunset. Anyhow, felt good to get our visas sorted out and all those formalities, so we busted it to MexiCali afterwards. Lots of desert driving, it's hot, straight, cactus everywhere, dust, non toll road so it's just one lane each way, some creative passing, lots of destroyed cars everywhere from breakdowns etc. Felt good to get the roof off the samurai and we just kicked it with tunes and ... read more

Well, this entry is a bit late and delayed but I've decided that I prettymuch hate internet cafes. I've obviously been spoiled having a fast connection and computer most of my life so this is a big change. Probably won't be any more photos for awhile, it's just a pain and I haven't really been able to get it working... but cross your fingers We left Trents today and headed to Mexico, got our car insurance and entered Tijuanna, it was a bit of a culture shock but not that bad, lots of slums etc. To be fair though we really didn't see much of the city, just drove through it quickly so we could get right to the coast, headed south about 45 minutes, through a toll and into Rosalito. We couldn't find the place ... read more

The next day we had planned a day trip to Tijuana! But spent the morning finding a 'Payless' shoe store for Mick (he wanted a pair of boots). We drove all morning with the top down getting hot and a bit sunburnt. The one thing we really dont like in the USA is the maps and street signs! All the maps we had only showed 20% of the roads, and instead of road signs on the freeway indicating a town turnoff, they would only indicate a streetname turnoff (of which only 20% were on our map); so we would never know what town we were in just that we had just passed 42nd street??? Very annoying - and if any of you watch our holiday video please excuse the fuity language! Mexico was an experience! We ... read more

Hello Everyone- It has been some time since I have talked with most of you, so I thought that I would give you a little update about where I have been and what I have been up to. I have been unemployed for 4 weeks thus far and have been enjoying it very much, after moving that is. I was going to start my West Coast tour on Labor Day weekend, but I seriously thought about the traffic and instead went and spent the weekend at an undisclosed location…it was a great time! So I started on the drive after Labor Day weekend and went down the Oregon Coast. Along the way I made a stop at Cannon Beach to take some pictures of Haystack Rock, then I cruised to Tillamook Cheese Factory in just enough ... read more

Hey everyone I am going to try and catch up to date before I leave for Vancouver... We took a trip back to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, it isn't that dissimilar to the side we already saw, however it is more remote and the less visited of the rim. Nat and I didn't really want to do the hike since we were tired and we'd pretty much been all over it the first time when we flew over it, into it, hiked and saw it during the day and at sunset so we went to the lodge and just hung out and had lunch with Adam & Michael from our tour, they didn't feel like hiking either. Went onto Zion National Park the following day and had a bit of a look around. ... read more
