Greetings and salutations from the Baja. I am finally feeling better after having gotten my hands on some "contraband" antibiotics. Seems now that you can no longer buy antibiotics or any other meds for that matter over the counter . Fortunately a friend in the park had some antibiotics and I got started on them immediately Christmas Day. Sore throat, ear ache, lots of fun stuff. But am on the mend now. I got a new hibiscus plant and planter and hope that it won't die! It is really pretty and I got a new bloom today. The other one is white but that will be awhile before it blooms. One of my neighbors is giving me a Sago palm so I am pretty excited about that. My bougainvillea is still thriving--the one that "mysteriously" was ... read more

Happy Holidays to you and yours. We had a good holiday with friends in the park here although I spent most of the 25th in bed sick w/ a sore throat. So it did not give me a lot of time to feel so sad about not being w/ family. Christmas Eve, we had a potluck dinner and later we went to our Mexican family's home for more celebration. They were thrilled that we would spend time w/ them. Today, my friend Betty, included us in their holiday brunch--they have 6 guests for the week. Pancakes, bacon, fruit, mimosas. Then we headed to the beach to await Santa who was to arrive either on horseback or on wind sail. Since there was enough wind, Santa surfed on in on the wind sail all dressed in his ... read more

On December 12 (also Sue's Bday) is the celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe. It was also the baptism day of Jimena Guadalupe's, the granddaughter of our Gabriel (park maintenance) and daughter of Gabriela and Arturo (Gabriela daughter of Gabriel). Like in the States, it is a big deal and the little girls are dressed to the nines for the occasion. On this day we counted about 14 baby girls and one boy baptized. Of course, we got there before most of the parents arrived for the ceremony which was to begin at about 12 noon. Some of the parents straggled in almost an hour late. But not to worry the babies were taken care of and no need to worry about babies in Limbo (oh, yeah, the church ruled that out). Anyway it was an ... read more

Here is a small collage of photos that I put together. This site doesn't allow me to put the photos the way that I want them. Our place has really changed since 07 and so has the park. Hope you enjoy the collage and hope some of you will consider visiting our little piece of paradise! Weather has been great, high in the 70s not a lot of wind until today. I have been a little under the weather w/ a sore throat, but no fever. I will post a Christmas blog soon and some of the other things on which i have not yet reported! Hasta pronto!... read more

Last Saturday, the 18th, my friend Betty and I decided to host a little gathering for the park workers and their families to show our appreciation for what they do here in the park all year (for the first time all of my plants survived!!). Betty provided her place and turkey and together we prepared salads, breads and provided drinks. As a special surprise, we had made sugar cookies and told them about our tradition at Christmas and invited them to help decorate the cookies. We had about 8 children there and they loved it. The park owner, Cesar, and his girlfriend, Cynthia, joined us as well. Although the party was set to begin at 6 pm, no one arrived until 7ish which we knew would happen so Betty and I had a few cocktails and ... read more

Things are coming together here at our place and we are getting more organized. Hopefully this year when we leave it will be easier to store things as we have consolidated stuff--outdoor couch, loveseat with storage underneath..... We recently hired the local carpenters here to put in a little table inside the RV. We made some changes inside here--took out the couch and booth and moved the refrigerator to make more space for hanging clothing. The guys came over, measured, we negociated and then moved outside where I wanted them to make some doors for under the TV area along with a shelf underneath. No problem. They were eager to get the work done, and didn't even want $$ to buy materials (aka cerveza). They promised that they would be back the next day.....AND they were----BUT! ... read more

As we were finishing up on our latest project, I got to looking at some pics of what this place looked like before we made changes.......changes that came little by little over the last few years. Then I will post the way things are now after I get it cleaned up from this latest change! Some of you may not remember these photos and will be shocked!! LOL. But we have turned our trailer trash place into a little bit classier trailer trash......So, here goes! ... read more

I can't believe how fast the week has passed........ But we have accomplished a lot so that the place is ALMOST livable! I need to get the cushions for the couch/chair covered (the stuff on them is just temporary), and the cement work mess needs to be cleaned up--aka we have to repaint the mess left over from the workl--NOT included in the price. My plants went absolutely crazy this past year so I got those weeded and it almost looks good! I want to try to get aNOTHER hibiscus and hope it takes. I think being here early enough will help. Today the policemen came around asking for donations for "policeman appreciation day", aka $$$ to buy their food and booze for the party. They really are underpaid, no doubt about it. We are NOT ... read more

Never a dull moment here in the Baja. The first event took place in the airport after the luggage went thru the xray. I was carrying 3 laptops (don't ask....) and the agent wanted to see the laptops. Not because of security; he just wanted to see them, ask where we got them and how much they cost. Of course, all I am thinking is that they want to charge us for bringing them in, so I punch Mike as he begins to divulge the info. So we go on our way to get the checked luggage and no blown up luggage this year! How nice. So we get out of there, go directly for a Pacifico and go to await our ride, compliments of our friends, Doug and Terri..... They are prompt w/ a cooler ... read more
