I'm hoping that I've finally broken the code to download pictures. Because its always a fight to get the computer whenever we come across internet, I havn't had time to fiddle around, and anyone that knows me, knows that I'm not a computer whip. I have the luxury right now because Joe is in the RV dealing with the school thing, and I'm sitting in the coffee shop drinking coffee and hanging out with the computer without one kid or the other giving me the evil eye because they want to look at "cat tricks" on youtube..so here goes... read more

We left Vagabundos in Cabo after staying a week more that we thought we were going to-it was just too convenient-laundry,pool,showers and close to everything but to be honest, I was ready to go. Theres RV parks like this, and RV boondocking which has an entirely different group of people. For example, at the bitter end of the poop day, Jaime wanted to have a shower so I took the dog and hung out with her while she showered(9.00 pm) Gracie wandered out and I followed her and of course she had a poop and I was unprepared. I just scooped her up on my way to get to the bathroom to get a paper towel, and a witch across the way said" Are you just going to leave that shit there?" Of course, I was ... read more

This Mexico thing is hilarious. I wanted to disprove the stereotype but absolutely can't. I'm sitting in La Paz after spending the night on the ferry from the mainland. First I have to say, that right now I'm sitting outside the terminal in an enclosed area with the kids -Jaime hunched over with her blanket , a chicken soup for the whatever book, sitting on a foamy wondering how long we'll be here. We are not allowed to leave until somebody picks up up..Sam is fighting with the vending maching to get a couple of cokes-breakfast of champions, and Joe is nowhere to be found. There are a billion, approximately, people waiting and nobody speaks English, and I just feel rude because I'm so inept at Spanish, even though I am trying.. Heres how the ferry ... read more

Spent the start to the new year at Balandra beach, just a short 5 minute car ride from Club Cantamar. What can one say when you are overcome with the beauty of the sea meeting mountain in such a spectacular fashion. This is an immense bay that is mostly about between 2-3 feet deep. The true beauty of this place is revealed if one takes a short hike up the bluff above the parking lot. Below you stretches crystal clear water with soaring, desert bluffs rising up all around. Bands of pelicans fly in formation below, crashing into the water in unison as they come upon a school of unsuspecting fish. The boys had a great time playing in the powdery sand. Bob and I did some snorkeling near the famous rocky protusion pictured in one ... read more

Today we got on the highway and headed to the Pacific side of the peninsula, to the small artist town of Todos Santos. The drive from La Paz is pretty short, less than an hour. The desert scenery on the way is spectacular. There is a small river going through town so it is much more lush than the desert surroundings. We drove down a long dirt track to where it ended at the beach. No one here except a few folks enjoying the stunning seascape. The water here is too dangerous for swimming, so most people head south to the very popular los cerritos beach. Before doing so, we stopped at a very popular taco stand on the way out of town that was recommended by a local expatriate. Excellent place, and the roasted peppers ... read more

Headed into La Paz today to stock up on groceries. Given that practically everything in this part of baja comes in on the ferry, things are not cheap around here. Pricing is about what you might expect in the states. Fresh bread and tortillas however are very cheap. Shopped at the big CCC store off the far west end of the Malecon. After shopping and lunch in the casa, we headed to check out the beaches near us. First went up to what is regarded as one of the finest, Playa Tecolote. It was a very windy day, which might account for absence of anyone in the water. This is a very long stretch of beach and quite pretty. You can drive up and down the beach and apparently, camping is allowed and campers string the ... read more

Arrived in Baja around 2:00 PM, a little over an hour late. We came in on the NW flight out of Minneapolis. Customs was somewhat chaotic with a plane load or two ahead of us waiting to be processed. There are two lines of luggage screening, and it takes awhile to get out of there. Bob flew on American Airlines and arrived early so picked us up with the Avis rental van. Hit the highway and pointed north to La Paz. It feels good to be back in Mexico, and this part of Mexico is a stunning mountain/desert terrain. The highway is nice, though there are no shoulders and people drive anywhere from 40 to 80 mph. Meeting semis that hog the road are also somewhat of a thrill! We are headed for the diving resort ... read more

Up until now, I belived there was only three options when it came to travel. 1) Tour groups 2) Backpacking 3) Resort dweller I hate all three. Okay, hate is a harsh word. How about dislike. I dislike all three. Why you ask? Well, tour groups actually terrify me. The thought of paying extravagant amounts of money to be stuck with a bunch of people I don't know...all complaining about the food, the heat & humidity or the taxi drivers lack of skill literally turns my stomach. Backpackers I actually secretly envy. However I'm too set in my ways to sleep upright in an old dilapidated school bus as it bounces along a dusty back road, or stay in party-wild hostels wearing seawater-stiff t-shirts and dirty flip flops for days on end. Being trapped at a ... read more

Trev and Liz After taunting Mexico in our last blog, the country became so cross that it gave us a big dose of humility. When we went to get our ferry tickets on Tuesday to leave on Wednesday we learned that the next ferry we could take would not leave until Friday and that it, in fact, would take 18 hours. We decided that flying is the wave of the future and hopped a flight from La Paz to Guadalajara. La Paz is a cool little beach town that seems to be centered around the local Applebees (pictured). We had a couple of hours after our bus ride so we decided to grab some food at La Fondas. We were just kindof TO'd that they didnt give us full meal pics yet. Even though we were ... read more
