Yeah, bear!Yeah, bear!Yeah, bear!

This one spent a lot of time by us, so we were able to take many pictures.
Today was again a drive day, as most of the rest of our trip will be. I am very glad to be done with the frost heaves between Delta Junction and Whitehorse. Very, very glad.

Tonight we stopped at Campground Services in Watson City, YK, the one with all the signs. We called to see if they had availability, and she told us to go to site 93 if we didn’t make it before their office closed. We didn’t, but there was already someone in 93, so we drove around trying to figure out where to park. A nice elderly guy from North Carolina helped point us to a reasonable site. He and his wife and dog left May 21, are still on their way out to Alaska, and hope to make it home in time for Christmas. Another couple pulled in just after us, just as confused. They left Kentucky not that long ago, are on their way to Alaska, and plan to leave when it gets cold, then drive south along the Pacific coast before heading home in time for Christmas. Then they’ll head to the Florida Keys. Before we left, I thought 3½ weeks would feel like

Windshield photos are never good, but I loved the mountain/cloud layers.
an eternity. To some extent, it has. But almost everyone we’ve met thinks we’re crazy for taking such a short amount of time. I can’t imagine being gone for 6 or 7 months., though. And none of them have two boys or a job.

Conversation of the Day:

C: It’s a moose!
D: Where?
C: Right there (pointing at the John Deere blanket covering my laptop)
D (to M): Is he talking about the deer?
C: It’s not a deer. It’s a sheep.
M: It’s a cow.
C: It’s a moose.

I don't know what Alaskans and Canadians think of fireweed, but I'm wondering if it will grow in our backyard.

Yes, there are mountains and a lake there. It's all just very hard to see.

Yes, this is a weird photo and I don't know how well it will show. I smacked a mosquito between my hands and it left very detailed remains.

Jeff & I decided that this was husband and wife. One wanted to go in the road to make sure we realized how pretty they were, and then the other one nudged him/her off.

Sleep is good.

They have not had nearly enough. They went to bed well for a week or so, and now are being incredibly resistant, not falling asleep before 11 the past few nights.
