Hotel Le RobervalHad a lazy start to the day - Geoff said he couldn't get his legs moving...I didn't want to admit it but I felt the same.
We had our complementary breakfast at the hotel - the breakfast room was down in the basement of the hotel. It's a strange feeling being down in the basements in some of these places. It's something we are not used to in Australia.
The hotel has many hallways, ramps and steps that lead all over the place. I can't tell you how many times we got lost when we were looking for the laundry. It was ridiculous - we had to ask the receptionist several times for directions....well our excuse is that laundry in French is not spelt anything like it is in English. Buanderie - who would guess that was laundry!
Started the day off with a drive to Mont Royal - took some photographs of the city at the Kondirink Lookout - today was fine and the view was amazing.
Stopped by Beaver Lake - in the summer time you can rent paddleboats and in the winter the lake is used as a skating rink. I spent some time
Our room at Hotel Le Robervalcollecting maple leaves - so many shades of reds, oranges and yellows.
There are 2 cemeteries in the park - the catholic cemetery is the largest and has the remains of mayors, artists and titanic victims. Some of headstones and tombs in the cemetery were very elaborate.
We took a drive down to the Old Ports. There are lots of restaurants and walking paths along this section of the city. The views of the river are lovely as well.
We continued our drive through the city streets - it's interesting just watching people passing by and thinking how different their lives must be here in Montreal compared to our life in Australia. Lots of Montrealers cycle their way through the busy streets - ducking and weaving their way through the traffic - listening to music through their headsets and appearing to be very relaxed.
We stopped by a Walmart to pick up a few essential items and then had a coffee and eats at Tim Hortons. Have returned early to the hotel to pack our bags - recheck our NYC itinerary and have an early night.
We will not have a car in NYC -
Lac Aux Castors ( Beaver Lake )so the next 10 days will be on foot or on the subway! It will be a busy time - so much to see and do.
Canada has been great - we've had an amazing time and take many happy memories home with us. The West Coast of this country has an amazing display of natural beauty that will take your breathe away and the East Coast is full of history - each province has something special to offer. So glad we have taken the time to explore this country.
Life is short - Get out - travel - and enjoy every new experience! 😊
