I have a few hours before heading to the airport to fly to Paris. I still can't believe I'm going. It's been great to be here in Oshawa. Yesterday I did a little last minute shopping for sunscreen, socks, and a different pair of shoes. I decided the pair I had weren't going to make it across Europe and my socks were too thin. We went for a walk around the old neighborhood and down to the creek behind the old Elementary School. I also stopped in to Sunset Heights where I went to school to check out how it's changed. I felt like a giant! Everything was so tiny! There was one teacher still there from my days and the old librarian who retired 8 years ago happened to be subsitute teaching yesterday. She asked ... read more

Honduras it is... It's been a very hard decision and a lot of thinking, praying, discussing was had. Comayagua, Honduras... Jill and I will be teaching at a school called 'Escuela Bilingüe Honduras'. Grade 3 teaching English, Math, Science, Health, and Arts & Crafts. Jill is teaching the same thing but to grade 5s. The website is Honduras School Website in case you'd like to check it out. If you click under the photo where it says 'Full Image', you can see Comayagua, where Jill and I will be. I thought that I'd try out this blog and see if it would be a good one to use while I'm away. I definately want to keep a record of all my travels and experiences online so that I can share them with my friends and family. ... read more

The journey from Montreal was actually quite nice. The coaches we took in Canada were a lot more comfortable than the American ones, more leg room and better head rests. I managed to sleep most of the way but still caught a few glimpses of the scenery, it was very beautiful and much greener then what I have seen in America. We arrived at the station and got a taxi to the hostel as it would have involved many transfers on the buses to get there. It really is no fun trying to lug our bags on and off several different buses! Upon check in I found out that my Passport and Greyhound pass was not in the bag I had put it in!!! Panic set in, but hopped in a taxi back to the station ... read more

So again i know i'm usually quick to point this out, but i am infact writing all of this in retrospect so you have to bare with me on the scetchy details (not that you'll really know or not if they're sketchy but if something i say here doesnt' amtch up with something i said in an email 4 months ago, that's why) So leaving Boston was kinda sad and i was a wee bit reluctant to leave my comfortable courner and be thrown into a completely unfamiliar city with no one i knew there, and with so many uncertainties (was i going to find a job, where could i live etc etc....having never traveled like this before i was new to the whole thing...but as a rule and what i've found is that things like ... read more

I made it to Toronto late this afternoon and am staying with a friend from grade school. I've known Jason longer than anyone and it's always great to catch up with him. His girlfriend is great and I'm excited to spend the next day with them. I'm really glad that I decided to stop in Toronto for a few days. It has become a nice buffer between Denver and Paris. I woke up this morning with a horrid head cold and don't exactly feel great so I'm hoping I can kick this thing over the next few days. So this entry is a little random but that's because my head is swimming and I'm tired. I mostly just wanted to let everyone know I made it to Toronto with my passport, and Mr. Bear and so ... read more

I've been in Toronto for two days, we leave for London tomorrow. It's going to be a very long day since we arrive in London at about 9pm and our flight to Helsinki doesn't leave until 10am the next day. We didn't bother to book anything or plan anything and who knows how adventurous we'll be feeling when we get there so there may be a lot of sitting around Heathrow. Good thing Sonja is good at back massages and likes to hear me perform every rap song I know. Just 12-ish hours. The highlight of these days in Toronto (besides seeing all these people that I sometimes like) was sushi two days in a row! We get back into Toronto on May 24th and we're already planning our next sushi date. If anyone wants to ... read more

Hey all, I have designs to write some beautiful travel prose at some point but seeing as the very real possibility exists that that point will arrive shortly after the severe chilling of señor Lucifer's humble abode, i'll hit you with this little ditty... This is it, our trip to Asia, our entry to into another part of the world. It's a bit overwhelming to know you're going to be living such a different life in about 4 months. Your family and friends that you too often take for granted will soon be sorely missed. All the things that keep me Toronto, all the things I like about this city and give me joy and a certain level of comfort will also soon be wrested away. But wrest away I say! I can't wait to get ... read more
