Na het afscheid van de Canadese familie ging onze tocht verder. We hielden eerst nog even halt bij The Forks, daar waar we gisteren gedineerd hadden, om nog snel even iets in onze mond te steken. Daarna was het dan definitief tijd om onze tocht verder te zetten richting Westen. Manitoba is zoals heel canada bekend om zijn natuur, maar één uniek plekje, het nationaal park Riding Mountain, springt er toch boven uit. Naast het feit dat het gigantisch groot is, is er veel 'wildlife' te bewonderen en vele fantastische wandelingen te doen. Op onze tocht naar Riding Mountain reden we eerst nog door de eerste fantastische uitzichten op de prairies, dit zou nog maar een voorsmaakje zijn van wat we in Saskatchewan zouden te zien krijgen maar toch het was met momenten adembenemend. We headed back to Winnipeg, because it was on our way to our next stop, Riding Mountain National Park. So we took the opportunity to stop at the Mint and take a tour. We learned how coins are made, which is really amazing how many steps it takes. It was cool to learn that they also make coins for 100 other countries! It was also cool to learn that a loonie only costs 11 cents to make and penny is now costing less than 1 cent to make… crazy eh!. We had the rare opportunity to hold a solid gold bar!! It weighed about 35lbs, but we forgot how much it is worth… definitely a buttload! The security guard wasn’t to friendly when Nigel tried to take off with it… just kidding!
