Had a wonderful dinner last night at the Banffshire Club - very old worldly restaurant - typical of the era it was built! Breaky then up the Sulphur Mountain Gondola in Banff and then took the 364 steps up and down the board walk to get the highest view overlooking Banff and the Banff Springs Resort, just amazing - Mark had acclimatised to the altitude and made it all the way - so proud he did it!!! He was too!!! Then back down to Banff for lunch, had picked out a great little place before we left home, Bruno's Bar and Grill, great lunch with a couple of beers then headed through the rockies to Lake Maurine near the Ten Peaks - another amazing site! The lakes are just gorgeous turquoise color and so clear. Mark thinks he would love to come and live in Canada - but too far from Australia for us. Arrived at the Chateau Lake Louise around 3.00p.m. quickly put all our gear in our room and had a tour of the area with an old hiker who has lived in the area for ages - very interesting! The view here is amazing but I have to

say that the Banff Springs Resort was the best! This is lovely but doesn't have the same feel about it. Our rooms look over Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier - John actually saw a calving whilst we were having dinner - down the hill a piece came off the Glacier! What a great day we have had today! Head tomorrow morning to Jasper calling in on a few places along the way.

28.6.2014 Up 6.00a.m. for early morning walk around Lake Louise, bit chilly 3 degrees but so nice and brisk first thing in the morning. Back for breaky and take off at 9.00a.m. Headed off early from Lake Louise along The Icefields Parkway, straddling the Continental Divide, wow! every corner you turned was another amazing view! One of the most scenic routes we have all been along. Entered Jasper National Park and continued to the giant Columbia Icefield. Here we rode in the specially designed Ice Explorer on the Athabasca Glacier, absolutely amazing! to be actually standing and walking around on the glacier. Continued on to the Athabasca Falls and then to Maligne Canyon. Then to Jasper Park Lodge, a mountain retreat located on the shores of Lake
