On our walk around the lake!
Little sleep in this morning! Breaky 8.00a.m. Disappointed a hike with national park ranger cancelled as minimum 4 people and we were the only three who wanted to do it, so now have to choose some other activity - maybe the tramcar up the mountain. The Jasper Park Lodge is about 6kms out of town but in the most stunning area overlooking the blue Lake Beauvert - had a walk around the lake which took about an hour - the air is so fresh and the water crystal clear - really is beautiful. We are staying in log cabins, which are a bit 70's but very comfortable with all the mod cons - it really is an icon of a place been here since the early 1900's. The lodge itself is huge perched up on the ridge of the estate with 3 bars, 3 restaurants and huge lounge area with swimming pool in front. We ended up doing the Jasper Tramcar, which in the end was a great choice and didn't disappoint. We were picked up around 11.00 had a great time out there. It was very chilly up the peak of the mountain around 9 but the chill factor was

Evening by the lake
huge - such a magnificent view of all the surrounding mountains and the town of Jasper down below, also of the lodge and the lake with the surrounding golf course. We have met a lot of young aussies working over here - the operator of our tramcar was a young carpenter from Ballarat who has been working over here for 7 months. We have been blessed with the weather, clear sunny day again and could see for miles all the snow capped mountains. Went back to town after this and bought up on a few things, wine etc and then found the local (verging on a biker pub) a great little pub, cheapest beers we have had in Canada and wonderful waiter - had a late lunch/dinner - Canada has such a lot of amber/dark beers - but tried so many different ones have lost count. Hailed a taxi around 7.00p.m. and headed back out to the lodge - too early to settle in so thought the most civilised thing to do take a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers and find some chairs down by the lake and sit back and relax - we haven't laughed so much for

ages - watching the Indian!! precision rowing team - about 6 in the canoe - all oars going one side - round and round in circles but they finally got the hang of it!!! out in the middle of the lake! Great evening entertainment - couple of others on a tour joined us and we all had a laugh. 10.30p.m. just getting dark - off to bed - off to Vernon (on the edge of the Okanagan Lake) tomorrow via Mt Robson, Clearwater and Kamloops.
