BANFF SPRINGS RESORT
Oooh! so cute, right outside the hotel Woke at a more civilised hour this morning, after 14hrs on that train we were wrecked last night, thats Melbourne to LA!! Because we are on the Gold floor of the Banff Springs Hotel Resort we have our own lounge and breakfast is served there, also snacks, coffee, teas, drinks, wines, beers etc whenever you like to visit. This place is absolutely stunning! Weather very cloudy this morning so after a few hours waiting to hear if our helicopter rides were on - unfortunately they were cancelled because of too much low cloud!! Boooo! were so looking forward to it, but by 5.00p.m. we could have so done it! All clouds disappeared from mountains. Anyway took a tour of the resort, so interesting and so many gorgeous rooms, function centre, conference centre (seats 2000 for sit down dinner at conference), they do approx 260 weddings a year here, predominantly in the summer months so that is huge. Interesting to hear the building of the place in 1888 and the extensions that have been done over the years. Our tour guide Tony has been the one of the bell men here and has worked here for over 20 years. Half this town
TOUR
Our lovely tour guide Tony! is aussies - have met quite a few young aussies living and working here. After heli tour cancelled, took a long walk down to the Bow River to he falls and then back into the town centre and found a nice pub later arvo to have a couple of beers in the lovely sunshine! Taxi back to hotel and hors d'oeuvres served in our gold lounge, then off to dinner at the Banffshire Club Restaurant, the posh one.
