Reggae and Dancehall music are one of my most favourite things about Jamaica. And being from a Jamaican heritage background, the music is the most loved influenced part in my life. To have some of the biggest artists from Jamaica, born and raised is an inspiring thing. From now and than generations such as Sean Kingston, Gyptian, Tami Chynn, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Damian Marley, Buju Banton, Lady Saw, Beenie Man, Burning Sear, and Bob Marley and the Wailers.... read more

I've been to many different destinations in my life but for my favourite one, I'd have to say Jamaica. My second time going I can remember every detail of my experience because it was only a few years ago. The first time I went I was 3 years old so I couldn't remember much, but I do have a lot of pictures. When I went a few years back I travelled with a friend, my grandparents, 2 cousin's and their parents to visit my step-uncle's side of the family. Where we stayed in Kingston- St. Andrews. We also got to see where my grandparents grew up and met, as well as their second home they own in St. Catherine Parish.... read more

I woke with a slight hangover, which I’m sure most of the others did as well, and we finally headed into BANFF for a fry up breakfast Melanie's Missteak restaurant on one of the back streets near the main street. After a brief wait, Joanna, Kristina, Sarah and I shared a table, with the girls having cereal, and Sarah and I having some big cooked breakfast to get our day started on the right foot. After breakfast, Todd took us through the town, across the bridge and up and around to the Banff Springs Hotel in the hills looking down on the town and the surrounding mountains and nature around. As I walked around the hotel it reminded me of the Celtic Manor in Newport near Cardiff and made me want to visit it again. It’s ... read more

During the wee hours of the night, I just about heard a call of “Bear!” but did nothing as I thought it was part of my dream. It was a faint call, and a bit later on I heard two people talking nearby, but again thought it was in my dreams so didn’t wake. Turned out this morning as we all gathered for breakfast, that it was Mark who called “Bear!” last night, but didn’t want to call it too loud in case it wasn’t a bear and didn’t want to wake people up for nothing! Sarah later chimed in saying that she heard the call, but waited 10 minutes or so to see if anything happened. It also turned out that Mark and Todd had a conversation in the van right next to me around ... read more

What a nice day...!! We were ready to continue our journey to Banff. At 8:00 a.m. the ladies had prepared the foods, cookies, and water. The guys had also checked the vehicle, and the other stuff. Then suddenly, they saw the right rare tire was less air.. gosh!! why it happened when we were ready to leave.. but my uncle told me that we just have to add more air. So, I was relief. My uncle drove the truck, me was seated on the right as a navigator, ready with my Canada map, and the others seated on the middle and back seat. We started the trip from where I live now, Kelowna. As long the trip, the lakes and mountains were "damn" beautiful! The water in the lakes were green and clear. Trip to Banff ... read more

Its been a while since the last post, a lot of bushwhack camping without internet nearby. We left Dauphin with the goal of getting to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. We got a good start on the day after being mostly packed from the dry-out the night before. We made it to Regina around two P.M. and had a ride through town. It seemed a bit lackluster, so we just breezed through down town on our way out of town and on to Moose Jaw. The city of Moose Jaw (yes, that is the real name), was established in the early 1880s when the rail road came through. The primary use of town was to load the piles of bison bones onto rail cars to be processes for fertilizer. A few decades later, Regina banned prostitution and Moose ... read more

The Canadian rockies crept up on us as we drove on from Medicine Hat. Then they began to tease us with their bearably visible ridges on the horizon every time we crested a hill. When we got to Calgary we were hungry for some mountains and couldn't wait to get here! First of all Canada charges everybody $10 per day just to be in Banff/ Glacier/ Jasper National parks! We payed for the first day, not knowing that there were ways around that exorbitant fee. We met a guy that had been living here in Banff for the past two years and learned that we could just avoid paying the fees completely by simply driving through the 'pass holders' line at the toll booths. We did so, and began to learn about all of the other ... read more

Geo: 51.1752, -115.573We filled up the afternoon with our only real shopping time of the trip, with a couple hours spent visiting the dozens of shops lining the main drag back in Banff. We decided to splurge for dinner and later rode the bus into town from our resort to eat at the Grizzly House fondue restaurant. As you can see from the pictures, we had a huge table with both oil and "hot stone" fondue set up. Aside from the wonderful food, the girls had a lot of fun with the telephones which linked all of the tables, and even the bathrooms. Alyssa had a long conversation with David while he visited the men's room, and Laura had an even longer chat with a never-seen patron across the restaurant.... read more

Geo: 51.1752, -115.573Everyone was up early again and were on the road before 0900, on our way -- after some GPS confusion -- farther west to the town of Banff. We formally entered Banff National Park a short way from the picture-postcard town center. As the shopping-inclined salivated at the sight of the wide boulevard full of souvenir shops, we passed through town and went directly to the Banff gondola, which brought us up more than 2,200 feet to the summit of Mt. Sulphur (~7,500 feet). Again we were blessed with cloud-free skies and uninterrupted views out across six separate mountain ranges, and the town below. After a picnic once we rode back down the gondola, we drove out toward Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake. At Minnewanka (also known as Spirit Lake, as the natives ... read more
