On this Saturday in Wales our original plan was to go to ironbridge gorge and a historic farm. However, the group was quite happy to find out during our 7 am breakfast that we were going to cancel the day's plans and just have a free day in the middle of nowhere. I decided to catch up on sleep while some people decided to go out for an early morning hike. They did not have a goal originally but ended up reaching the top of a summit before turning back. Many other groups took their free morning to hike or chill around the hostel. After a short nap, I finished reading a game of thrones and ate a quick lunch before going out on the trails with Jennifer. We decided to not go very far, so ... read more

The last Bank Holiday weekend in the UK means another trip off somewhere (3 days in a row … have to make the most of it). This bank holiday was another hiking trip, back to north Wales and Snowdonia. Upfront I experienced possibly the longest most sleep deprived 3 days of my life! I agreed to drive the mini-bus for the weekend (yep, that’s right 14 other human beings had their life in my hands) so off to Gatwick lunchtime on Friday to pick it up and drive to Hammersmith to pick up the brave souls. We left on time (for once), the traffic was not too bad (for a bank holiday Friday) and all was going well until the lights went out on the motorway! A lovely electrical fault in the bus which saw us ... read more

Week Monday 16th August to Sunday 22nd August 2010. Monday 16th August 2010. Up and went for a bike ride - along the coast road, about 16kms for Gaye. I stopped and asked about a sheet metal shop, talked to a couple of workers laying pavers. I then proceeded to chase down Gaye. Missed the turn off so back and forwards till I got my bearings, did about 25kms and by the time I got back, Gaye was resting in the sunshine and laughed when I told her. We then packed up and found the sheet metal shop and purchased some metal. He showed us a good example of Welsh dry humour as I tried to pay with a Bank of Scotland £5 note - he said it was no good and only took the £5 ... read more

They did have the ham and cheese selection, so I had a bowl of cereal and a ham and cheese on toast. We then boarded the bus to get to the ferry that would carry us across the Irish Sea. I am going to use the motion sickness wrist band that I bought from the travel store in Santa Monica. You place the hard pellet over your pulse on your wrist and then tighten it slightly. This is suppose to keep you from getting sick.On the way to the boat, Dylan let us know that at the beginning of the trip, we were told to “show our appreciation” ... read more

Dear friends, have decided to post a blog, see if it still works. I so enjoy writing about my travels, so here's some of my first writings about my journey: 1. April 2010 I left home on 30th March, with my new tenant moving in as I cancelled the electric! Most salutary to condense my belongings and pack them into my loft, garden shed, and friends’ garage. And this feels a good time to be setting off on adventure. After a great long weekend in Devon, on the Womens Healing Retreat, and a few days with friend Erica in Buckfastleigh searching for a van, I realised I wanted something smaller than those I’d been looking at. We soon came up with the idea of a Romahome made by Citroen, and Gumtree provided this very one, in ... read more

Geo: 53.3096, -4.63347Though we had planned on sleeping in and enjoying the posh comfort of our B&B, we all woke up early with our minds racing. Rich went downstairs and took some pictures. Eventually, we had our "complimentary" (aka "paid for in credit") breakfast. It was nice, but overshadowed with the nagging question of whether we would manage to get out of the flood. As we dined, the rain began to fall again. We packed up the few things we had with us and jumped into the KA. Fearing delays, etc., we stopped for petrol and made sure we wouldn't get stranded due to lack of fuel. The line of cars coming into town was very long, which was bothersome. Upon the advice of a local, we headed toward Burford, which we had avoided before knowing ... read more
