Father suggested day out to see autumn colours and recommended Bodnant Gardens just south of Conwy. They are absolutely beautiful. Roses were still blooming and turning foliage of trees stunning. Intend to go back in Spring as Laburnum walk is worth seeing. After lunch in the 16th century Groes Inn visited Conwy castle and it has to be one of the better examples of a castle in its original state. Drizzle by then did not spoil visit.... read more

So now I’m fast-forwarding to Saturday and Sunday when we had a fieldtrip, then I will go back to spring break next time. I’ll do this so I don’t fall as far behind- I’m just prolonging the inevitable. This past weekend we went to another one of King Edward’s Norman castles, Conwy. Conwy Castle was the ‘headquarters’ of all of Edward’s castles in North Wales, and he was there often, apparently. We had a tour guide through this castle, who definitely enhanced our experience. He made really bad jokes and laughed at them, then we all laughed at him laughing at himself, but he thought we were laughing at his jokes. It was a good time! But he did teach us a lot, and I made a lot of connections, linking Conwy Castle to the other ... read more

As you can see from the title I've got my ship, Cunard Queen Mary 2, and I'm off to Fort Lauderdale, FL, to join it at 9am on 13th January. The first cruise is a 90 day world cruise taking in the sights of Rio, LA, Honalulu and Tokyo to name but a few! After that its 3 months of mainly transatlantic crossings interspersed with trips to the Med, Scandanavia and Canada. ... read more

Well everyone I have made it back safely to the land of sheep and eternal rain; that's right I'm back in dear old Cymru (Wales). I arrived home at 7:20 yesterday morning...which is pretty much the time I began pining to go back to South Africa and I am already couting the days til I'm next there. Now where did I leave you? I believe that I was about to go to Cape Town? I know that was a while ago. It seems my vows to get better at writing more regularly never came to fruition but believe me, the intention was certainly there at least? Anyway, Cape Town was all it was cracked up to be and then some. I think the thing that struck me the most was that I was in the middle ... read more

OK, be amazed, I have now officially joined the technolmological revolution by starting a blog. Next step, actually understanding databases.....well, live in hope eh? Since I have vowed to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth in this blog, I have my first confession to make dear reader - I know, first entry and I'm already confessing my poor behaviour. I am, as I type this, supposed to be packing up my rucksack to go. How far have I got? Well, I've made it down to my room and I'm looking at my rucksack, desperately willing it to pack itself because top of my list of hates, even above dusting, is packing. I really, really loathe the process and, as you can probably tell by this point, will do ANYTHING to avoid it. I ... read more

The day after I got back from Bulgaria mom and Dean arrived on the sunny shores of England. Dean had bought my mother a surprise present to come and see me. It was so great seeing them, we had a fantastic time running around London and Wales. It was awesome going to the land where both Dean and my name originate from. We went straight to my moms old friend Lesley in Colwyn Bay, Wales. It was great seeing her and Matthew and Lindsey again. It had been so long since we saw them. Colwyn Bay was not too much to write home about, just a Typical town in the north of Wales withs some pubs and a nice sea side promenade. We went to Llandudno near by which was beautiful as well as Conway ... read more
