One Day To Go! Well, we're finally off on our big trip tomorrow after months of saving, weeks of planning, days of organizing and just a few hours of panicking (machine readable passport? what the hell is that?), so as a way of embracing the 21st century nearly 7 years late we've decided to join the world's sci-fi fans and other 'misunderstood' types by setting up this little websitey type thing of our own! Hopefully we'll manage to keep you all up to date with how it's all going and attach the occassional photo too. Unless it's too complicated and time consuming, in which case you'll probably get a big group email instead... Either way, this is a quick, rough map of our route for anyone who doesn't know: Our Route No point saying much else ... read more

Geo: 51.73, -1.17323Exhausted when I landed in Gatwick. Stayed in a town called Crawley; the hotel was older, but had some character. It reminded me of the hotel I stayed in two years ago in London, but this one was not as dumpy. Walked around town for three hours; lots of shops. I guess it's not the worst place to spend a few hours, but I wouldn't return. I ate lots of food today, probably because my whole rhythm and schedule is messed up. The walking kept me awake at least, but my pedometer is broken! Cheap Wal-Mart junk! Speaking of which, went to the "ASDA" store - it's owned by Wal-Mart and advertised as such, so why not just call it that? You know what they say ... if it looks like crap and smells ... read more

So last night Ted & Shea got me plastered. Totally and completely gone! That's what I get when I try to out drink 2 boys who are much much bigger than me. Anyway I passed out at the dundas, lost my glasses, woke up an hour before my flight in the wrong city and realised I hadn't packed. Then I poured myself into ted's car, demanded he speed me home, threw my entire underwear drawer into a suitcase and barely cleared customs. Past that I thought about throwing up on the plane then decided to fall asleep. So I arrived in London completely better but a little bit twitchy. I checked in, my roomate wasn't there. AIFS (my travel program) had assigned her to me so I had never met her before. And being the brilliant ... read more

I am in the process of trying to survive the last few weeks of work before I have some time to myself. The good news is that it is a month till I leave and I can't wait as the snow will be what I need, at least you shouldn't get people saying gosh it's cold today (yeah right!). Here is a list of where I've been so far in my travels around the world; Costa Rica Nicaragua Panama The Netherlands Portugal Spain France Germany Poland Austria Greece Turkey Italy South Africa Kuwait Suadi Arabia U.A.E. ...and I don't plan on stopping! That's around 60747.25 miles (not including all the times I've been to france!)... read more

As I write this it is seventy three days until I will arrive in Russia. My adventures will take me to Yaroslavl in september for the first semester, then after a quick trip home I'll start in Tver next spring. Both cities have a population of about 600,000, and are situated roughly a six hour train journey north of Moscow. At the moment the idea of going to Russia is really exciting. As most of you already know I tend to act first and think later - I'm not the type to get nervous about things! There might be a last minute panic, but the move should go well if I do everything that I need to on time. I haven't applied for a visa yet, or found out about tuition fees. My Russian isn't great ... read more

Well Summer really has hotted up and being such a nice day the crew figured that a trip out of London was needed. We decided to take in some English histroy and head to Heaver Castle the childhood home of Anne Boylen, one of Henry's unfortunate wives! As usual the team pulled together to pack a picnic lunch and we headed off to the Enlish Countryside. The castle iteself was more of a house, so no ramparts and battlements, but it did have extensive grounds and great gardens. When we were done soaking up its rich history we ended up at the local boozer and downed a few ales (made a change from the typical Stella diet) and mingled with the locals before heading back to London. A few of us kicked on......I vaguely recall Jax ... read more
