When we stayed at Theresa´s sisters before our holiday we did quite a bit of shopping, then left two hefty 30kg holdalls with them whilst we went away. This morning we had to merge the shopping into the luggage we had brought home from our holiday. Luckily we had not bought very much whilst we had been away. But we still have six 20kg bags to go into the hold for our flight home. Not a problem for us. After a quick stop at the supermarket in Camberley to pick up supplies for tea tonight, we headed off to Gatwick Airport. Our rooms at the Premier Inn at the North Terminal were not ready when we got there so we had a quick coffee at the Costa Coffee shop in the hotel before heading off to ... read more

We had a bit of a disturbed night last night as the couple in the room above us got in about 1am and made lots of noise for about an hour. When we checked out, we mentioned this and they credited the cost of the hotel room. They do offer a good night sleep guarantee. I had one day in Hanoi after arriving back from Sapa & saw Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum and palace as well as the temple of literature. I had my walking boots shined to get rid of the mud from Sapa so that I could put them back in my bag & enjoyed my last taste of vietnamese food. My bag, all packed, weighed in at 18.5kg at the airport, which I thought was quite impressive before settng off to Hong Kong. I was impressed with the bus that took me into Kowloon & I was able to find my hotel, looking smart compared to its surroundings. During the afternoon I wandered down Nathan road & saw Kowloon park before reaching the waterfront & the avenue of stars. It was valentine's day & I was the only ... read more

Zambia - Malawi - Tanzania - Kenya. After being home for four weeks I finally find some spare time to blog about Africa. And now I just don't even know where to begin! Perhaps the airport where my brother and I were reunited...What a disaster! My last words to Jourdain before he left "I will meet you at arrivals and we will check into our connecting flight together. Don't board the plane without me." At Heathrow they checked Jourdain onto both flights (heathrow - Jo'burg &  Joburg to Zambia) so he was never directed, or needed, to come out at arrivals. Cue two and a half hours of pure panic. My flight from Perth arrived in jo'burg at 5am and Jourds landed at 6.57am. I literally watched the clock for two hours getting more and more ... read more
