Harlow Carr Gardens in located in Harrogate, very close to where I was staying. You could actually walk to it from my Aunt's flat. It was a beautiful day. We sat outside in the sunshine and drank tea surrounded by all the flowers. A perfect way to spend the afternoon.... read more

It's four days to go until we leave, we can't believe it's actually nearly here; our big world wide adventure!! Luke and I are working right up to the Friday before we go, both Berwins and Principles have been lovely since hearing of our plans, however we're still as excited as a horse in a swing about the thought of not having to sit at a desk for 12 whole months!! This weekend gone we had our leaving party and we've put some pictures up as a memoire as we can't really remember much of the latter part of the evening ourselves, but thanks to everyone who came to Moko's and helped us celebrate. A special thanks goes to Victoria for encouraging me to do bad things in Bambino's. Nuff said about that! Thanks to Mum ... read more

After all the excitement of The Election, Round One, we had to come home to England. Then when the 'kids' got back we had a seasonal Singapore Sling and headed off to the exotic purple baize at the Hotel du Vin in subtropical Harrogate (now up from a chilly -7 to a balmy +6C). Time to plan the next trip!!!! ... read more

Disaster! I sent for my Visa to India 3 weeks ago - including my passport of course. Has it come back? Of course not! Discover I'm partly at fault for not enclosing a special SAE, but at the same time, the website says if you don't do this, they'll just send your application back. The High Commission was closed today, we eventually discovered, after our both hanging on the phone in some unending rota, because it was Mahatma Gandhi's birthday....... So somehow I have to retrieve my passport, at the very least, before we go to France on Tuesday....and isn't there a postal strike later this week? ... read more
