Early start for us at 5am on Thursday. We flew Air Asia to Kota Bharu in the north east of Malaysia. I slept most of the way. At the airport we met 2 girls from Devon, Jess and Yulanda, whom we shared a taxi with to get us to Kuala Besut. This is where you get the speed boats out to the marine reserve islands of the perhentians, the two main ones being Besar and Kecil. The beauty of them is there are no airports or roads or cars, just jungle, beaches, rocks and turquoise waters filled with coral and marine life.
