Since I was on a 3 weeks of unexpected holidays due to the H1N1 quarantine, I decided to visit my brother who was staying at Norwich, England. Here's my account of this unique lovely place called Norwich. Norwich - An English medieval city that has everything in it! That's how I found Norwich to be. This picturesque county boasts of magnificent cathedrals that will definitely leave you spellbound, ancient Norman castle, narrow winding cobbled streets and such cute little shops that you'll never get tired of this place! Every street and corner has something to offer. An evening stroll along the River Wesnum will leave you speechless with it's breathtakingly beautiful scenery lined with half timbered houses and the main attraction : the Cow Tower (a former British Artillery). The city comes to life from morning ... read more

Cromer 12th-14th February, 2010 It was an incredibly cold winter in London even though I missed a good part of it by being in Australia. A weekend away in the Norfolk Broads wasn't any warmer than London but we stayed in a warm self-catering cottage in Cromer called The Grove. Cromer is a coastal town in Norfolk close to the Norfolk Broads. The Norfolk Broads are an area of rivers and lakes in Norfolk and Suffolk - a popular area for canal boating and other water activities. We spent some of Saturday driving around some of the nearby villages on the broads. A maze of waterways. It started to snow and it was very pretty. It was nice to get back to our warm cottage, cook dinner and enjoy a bottle of champagne that we'd been ... read more

The flight back went much like any other, uneventful but with not enough sleep. The area around Heathrow was blanketed in a fine layer of snow and once I had left the airport the -5 degree C temperatures were pretty painful for this warm acclimatised person. It was back to Twickenham for me to spend a day and a night with same people who put me up just before I left. The day was spent just sitting around on my own (turns out other people have proper jobs to go to during the day), slightly zoned out until the evening when we went out for a catch up session over beer and Italian food. I suspect I wasn't quite the sparkling socialite that I usually am, jet-lagged and yawning my way through most of the evening ... read more

We needed a couple of days recovery after our motorcycle adventure, and Baños is the place to relax! We had a lovely weekend wandering around town, eating the rediculously sugary cane sweets (the type that threaten to stick your teeth together forever!), and generally trying to get the feeling back in our bums after the motorbiking. After that, we headed to the capital, Quito, for a couple of days. It seems to be just another big city, although the old town has been nicely renovated with lots of colonial splendour. The heavens kept opening up so we found a spa in town and spent an afternoon swimming, steaming, sauning and bubbling, which was a lovely treat. We also got chatting with a man from Quito, who despite speaking no English, chatted with us for over an ... read more

Hello everyone! This blog is a bit of a cheat but is the way to contact the majority of people I haven't managed to see and tell my news. When I came back from India in May, an old friend (male) got in touch with me and to cut a long story short the timing was perfect for us both this time round. So I have taken the enormous leap and moved to Norfolk to share his lovely cottage and build a new life here. I love the area - quiet and countryside and have lots of plans to do things. Nigel and I get on really well and are planning a great life together. A bit sudden I hear voices saying ..well yes but I have known him for about 9 years and we have ... read more

1 week to go Just set up this travel blog so thought I would try it out... We've got 1 week to go before we leave for our RTW trip...never done anything like this so have no idea what to expect! Both Rick & I had our last days of work with Aviva yesterday which was strange...still hasn't really sunk in that I'm unemployed, quite exciting though! We're currently both exhausted after spending nights out saying goodbye to our friends. Still got some more sad goodbyes to go :-( Not really looking forward to them. Was nice to receive some thoughtful gifts...I was given a lovely journal which I needed! Still not got everything we need to take but there's only little bits and bobs left (I think). I'm looking forward to having some spare time ... read more

It's Tim Birthday - the big 30! We decided not to let this pass unmarked so we headed off to the Norfolk Broads for the weekend. Considering they are only an hour and a half from Cambridge we don't know why we have never been there before. Vicki and Jo came with us and we hired a 28' cruiser. It was very cool. We weren't too sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. Georgie B (the boat) was fairly spacious and we had a double cabin, kitchen, bathroom and a sitting area with a sofa bed. The whole roof of the living area slid back so we could enjoy the nice weather whilst relaxing. This was just as well as we spent a lot of time relaxing! We had the boat from Saturday morning ... read more
