After 2 months of travelling around Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand, Nicola arrived back in the country and came down to see me. It was great to see her and catch up on all her stories and adventures. What wasn't so great was that I felt like an albino next to her, seeing as she had a good tan and I haven't seen any sun since ... I can't remember, it's been that long. Saturday night we went out to China Town with the crew - Lisa, Andre, Jenny and Jess & Eddie (Lisa and Andre's mates who are dossing with us at the mo). Seeing Nicolas favourite pastime is shopping I thought I would take her to Harrods. It is an impressive place especially the food hall, but around this time of year it is absolutely packed with people. Afterwards we walked to and around Hyde Park and went and saw Buckingham Palace for a bit. After plenty of walking we got back and had a siesta before getting into the festivities. Thursday I decided to have a walk around my local area, Surrey Quays. I found out that the Greenland dock near my flat is called so because it was used by the whaling ships which operated principally in the North Atlantic around Greenland. It was used to refit whaling ships and as a location for the boiling of blubber to produce oil. A few of the pubs in the area are named after this fact too, such as the Moby Dick and the Ship and Whale. I actually found quite a few pubs in the area, that’s one thing in England you can’t go 100 metres without finding.
