The Lion King
Lyceum Theatre Lots going on still! Sadly there are no pictures allowed in the King Tut exhibit, the Tate Modern, or the Lion King production. Thusly, the pictures for this blog are limited!!!
Monday was just a class day, then catchup on homework day.
Tuesday we had class in the morning, but I got out early, around 1. James and I hopped trains to the 02 dome down by the Thames in North Greenwich. They have the "King Tut" exhibit there, and both James and I are interested in Egypt. While I have seen most of the King Tut stuff, he has not, and I sure don't mind seeing it all again. That was pretty neat, and we enjoyed it, though it would have been nice if they had had more in the collection. We hopped trains back, then went to see the Lion King Musical on the "London Broadway". It was at the Lyceum Theatre, which was very elegant and extravagant. Here is a short video clip of the first song (Circle of Life) from the production, in the Lyceum Theare. http://youtube.com/watch?v=A99RCTEnfp0&feature=related
The lady playing Rafiki (who you hear singing most of the song) was amazing! Her voice is

Where the King Tut Exhibit was. fantastic and she was very comical as well as powerful on stage.
Wednesday I had class all morning, but got out a bit early, around 2. Clara did as well, so we hoped the trains and met James in central London, at the Tate Modern. It was very interesting....we went through all the 'free' galleries, which is most of it of course. A lot of it was not quite what I consider 'art'. But, I'm a traditionalist. I like things like Botticelli and Rembrandt. Though, I must say, it was very cool seeing the 5 Picasso's they have there. Also, they had 1 Andy Whorlhal and some Jackson Pollack's. I guess it was neat to see those, too, but overall it was just....interesting.
Anyway, we headed back last night for a 7:30 meeting about Paris in 2 weeks, then went out for some dinner, which actually turned out to be really good for a change. BBQ Ribs!
Today is an extremely busy day. We have class, in which I have to give a presentation with a group over Facism in media, and today is our final class. After this we just have the 'coursework' that is due
Lyceum Theatre, indoors
Very dark, it was hard to get a good photo before the show started... in August to finish and turn in. I'll do mine next week, most likely.
After class is over, Clara, James and I are heading out for the Euston Train station (Which, incidentally, is the Train Station that J.K. Rowling described in her books when she was talking about King's Cross and the Hogwart's Express. We've been to King's Cross quite a lot, and though its what they used in the movie, it isn't what she described, she was confused which was which! Haha). We have to catch the 7:30 train to Holyhead, North Wales. It is a 3 hour train ride. We will arrive North Wales around midnight. Our Ferry leaves from there to Dublin, Ireland at 2 am. It will take 3ish hours as well. So, we'll be to Dublin around 6 am. Won't be the 'best' of journeys, but we'll make it to Dublin, and that's what matters!
I'm very excited to see Ireland and Wales. I've always wanted to see Ireland...
Cheers and Love,
-Ryan
