I went to London this past weekend to visit my friend Jillian (also from Macalester) who is studying at the University of Westminster this semester. We traveled to Brighton, a small city on the sea in southeast England. Our Friday night got off on the wrong foot, but it was, overall, a very enjoyable weekend. I reached London on Friday afternoon and, after dropping off my things at Jillian's flat, which is located in Highgate and has an amazing view of London, we decided to take the tram to the general area of the National Theatre and walked around for a while. We bought sandwiches and sat on a bench overlooking the River Thames. It was a gorgeous view, we were excited to be together, and we were having such a good time catching up that ... read more

And there off..... Savage weekend in Brighton with Rob and Dan. We're on our way now at last, even if a little bit apprehensive about what lies ahead. We had a bit of a moment in Brighton, when we discussed not going at all. Instead we would head for the aran islands and stay with our friends Mairtin and Sighle, for the year and pretend that we had been all over the world. Downloading landmark photos off the internet! This moment soon passed (We Promise...). Great Craic in Brighton. Rob and Dan in great form. Bit of boozing, bit of world record breaking Jenga and some chilling on the beach. Exactly what we needed after the madness of getting ready to go away of the last 4 months. Next stop Dubai..... ... read more

This is my final blog entry. Thank you to everyone that has read & hopefully enjoyed it. We arrived at heathrow on the 5th June & was met by Miles mum & uncle - a complete surprise. Very choked to see them. Our first impression was that we had forgotten how beautiful our country is & how green everything was. We were very excited t be home & see all our family & friends again. Lots of tears & emotions were running high, it was good to be home. We both went back to work after 2 weeks & it was a real struggle to get motivated to do anything. Depression soon set in & getting back to the 'real' world was alot harder than we both anticipated. Good job we had baby Gander to look ... read more

Ahojte. Potom uz len cesta naspat a spat.Fotky dake su... read more

I did Laundry! By myself! Okay, no, Jessica had to help me, but the point is still that, I did it by myself! So now while I am waiting for it to finish, I stole away to the computer lab to write to you fine people. The most exciting news of all is that I now have a cell phone, it is only 100 min a month but this is only for outgoing calls. To recieve calls it doesn't use my minutes at all. So if you don't mind paying long distance and fancy giving me a call just drop me a comment/message and I will send you my super fancy phone number. hold that thought... laundry is done will finish later.... And now all my underwear is yellow. WHo-RAH! I accidentally washed it with an ... read more

Well end of the week and have made Brighton. Wednesday headed to Leicester. Longest run yet. Traffic on motorway so I stick to the A roads. Went to Ceroc in Leicester - not a bad class. Thursday headed to Althorp and stayed longer than I expected, so called into Cambridge. Had a look around, but a bit dissappointed that there is so much commercial shops right in the centre of the town. Ran out of time so looked for accommodation. Stayed in Suffam Prior a little village outside of Cambridge. B & B but ended up in the holiday cottage that had 3 bedrooms! Leeft this morning and was aiming for Canterbury, but the traffic on the Dartford bridge slowed me right down. Instead went to Leeds Castle. Very nice. The grounds are beautiful and your ... read more

Hello all, another day in Ye Olde England. Went to Chichester today, the cathedral there dates back to 1100 and is pretty spectacular. Last night we took the train in to Brighton to check out the pier at night, so enough waffling, check out the pics, byee. ;-)... read more

As changeover weekend is always stressful for faculty and students alike, I planned a relaxing trip to Brighton Beach. Little did I know I would feel like I was in Seaside Heights in October with rocks under my feet. And more surprising was the Royal Pavilon, holiday home to King George who decided to spend all of his money converting an old farm house into a gaudy Indian/Chinese mosque looking structure. We toured the palace, shopped and romped on the boardwalk. The day was definitely relaxing until the bus ride home when the driver decided to pull over and scream at the arab boys over and over again. All in all though, I hope the day prepared me for second session registration, airport runs and student meetings tomorrow. Hope you are all well! ... read more
