It's Wednesday - the first day of Boris' new advice. Stay alert is the new stay at home today. Let's see just how well this works out. We are unlocking the lockdown - shame that the UK is not acting like one union . We may be unlocking in England but not in the other three nations. They are not being alert. They are still staying at home. No garden centres open up here . Garden centres open in Wales . Go for as much exercise as you want in England and even drive to the country or the seaside to do it . But make sure you come home and don't stay there . Wales and Scotland - go home you are not welcome . We are still closed . Even so many English are phoning the welsh campsites to try to book holidays . It feels like a good result for confusion . With still high numbers of deaths we are told to - wear a mask . It might help you not spreading the disease if you have it . It won't stop you getting it though. On the one hand it is sensible to wear one. On
The serenity of the fishing lake
There is a fishing number there the other don't bother .
Boris says that if we behave ourselves the curve of deaths continues to fall he will look at the situation again and might open shops, restaurants and cafes . Gyms and Swimming pools . But that depends on us .
Confucious said " The man who asks a question is a fool for a minute . The man who does not ask is a fool for life " So I asked the question. Now that we have lockdown lifted slightly can we drive to Alfreton to pay some cheques into the building society ? . Boris might say yes but the driver of the household isn't going anywhere . Perhaps I was the fool to even ask the question when I should have guessed the answer. So I left him at home and drove to do the shopping instead .
Plan - park up and walk . Around Clay Cross - a old mining town with many empty shops. I thought to walk around Kenning Park or try to walk down to the entrance to the railway tunnel built by Stephenson . It was 6.50 and to my surprise there was a
queue . We are good at queuing but I was not impressed with a queue for a shop that would not open for another hour and 10 mins . I had already checked the opening times 8am . However the internet was wrong and I only had to wait ten minutes to find myself inside and doing the shopping .
As lockdown had been relaxed there were no staff disinfecting trolleys . Perhaps they had done this before I arrived . There was no policing of the one way system which meant a few people chose to ignore it and go the wrong way round . I kept bumping into Mr and Mrs . An older couple obviously shopping together . They clung to each other as if they had magnets in their pockets . He grumbled to her "Get out the way " and she let me through . I came across them again at the crisps section . Both picking up packets and putting them down . Yes you guessed it the magnets had pulled them together again and they were at the Cheese and Onion flavour . I had to hover until they finally made their minds up about which flavour they wanted . Last stop I needed some disinfectant wipes . I could see a few half way up the aisle . At the top the magnet had worked well again . There they were perusing bleach this time . She pulled off lemon bleach , looked at it and put it back. He pulled off the bleach that smells of the sea . She grunted and put it back In the end they chose bleach that smelled of bleach. I was glad to get out with the thought of a walk ahead of me.
Supermarket sweep over for another week thank goodness . I never made it to the park . Neither did I hunt out the ghost sign telling me all about John Bull Tyres . Perhaps next week after another fraught supermarket shop .

Shopping!
Its an awful experience!! We buy at Click and Collect now at Tesco!! The Garden Centres are open from today in England I think - the same for golf courses and fishing. The Garden Centres aren't the same nice experience either though - the staff have done everything - its the other customers that are more of a problem!!! Stay Safe! x
