Vegetarian breakfast 27 August 2019, Tuesday
Day 11 of travel day 7 on the C2C.
At the Fairlight Guesthouse, breakfast was served promptly at 0800. I had the vegetarian breakfast with potato waffles, mushrooms baked tomato and vegan sausage with an egg.
By 0930 I had walked the ten minutes to the boat and purchased tickets for the five leaving on the 9:45 ferry to Pooley Bridge. The group rate was 45 GBP which included the 10% discount for taking the early sailing.
It was a gorgeous Sunny ride across the lake which was smooth as glass. The mountains around the lake were quite charming as were the people with their dogs on board. One of the two couples from Israel was also on the boat. The other couple had elected to do the very difficult hike over the mountains. We saw them at dinner and they were bushed.
Once we arrived at Pooley Bridge we followed the GPS maps for the route to Bampton Grange and our lodging at The Crowne and Mitre. This was not too difficult.
As we walked across the grassy Meadows, at the highest part, we met a group of volunteers who are

A relief map of the Lakes District working to eradicate the ferns and bracken's all around. They pointed us to where we could see several druid ruins; a stone circles and other stone placements from prehistoric times. They are trying to preserve the area and eradicate the bracken.
I heard forgotten about the beautiful Beckwith farm, where we had had lunch 7 years ago. I stopped about a mile prior to this so we had lunch on a rock loading platform beside the road. Then a half an hour later when we walked by the farm I remembered the beautiful lawn and our pleasant stop before.
About two and a half miles farther and we were at our destination in Brampton Grange. Our key's were on the steps with directions as to which rooms we each were in. But Miss Wendy, one of the workers, told me the single room number and also took our picture upon arrival. Coast to Coast packhorse delivered our luggage around 3:45. We learned later the drive spent 3/4 an hour in Pooley Bridge trying to find Janet. She had said she would call if she wanted to ride. She enjoyed the walk.
Our statistics for the day. 1
