The challenge and finding the limits of my body have always been something that I have been striving for. Pushing myself to the edge of my physical limitations is something that I have sought for many years now. To not only overcome the physical boundaries but also to challenge my mental boundaries in order to push through when fear or fatigue are taking grip and shaking me to my core. When these are overcome and I reflect back on the achievement, away from the pain and exhaustion, I realise I am alive and not trapped in a cycle ( although a very beautiful cycle) of everyday life. To achieve, a few times a year, the extraordinary, is what adds to my already rich tapestry of life. My cousin Tristan has been my best friend for 25 ... read more

Well, it's 26th September and I'm on countdown to my departure from full time employment. Friday is my last day - still a lot to do but looking forward to getting to the end of this week!! Although my waistline is increasing rapidly with all the leaving lunches, dinners, coffees etc... Maybe need to pay for some excess baggage on the flights at this rate, to account for the extra tyre round my middle...... read more

It has been a very long time since I managed to find time to write a blog so I promise that I will not try to cover everything that I have been up to as that would take weeks to read, but I thought I would send round a general update and some information about my next project. My last couple of months in Uganda just seemed to fly by in a flurry of activity, there were so many things that I wanted to fit in before I left and time was tight due to the break for Christmas and the time I was planning to take off to travel with Luke. With a lot of dedication and time and effort from Paul and myself we managed to achieve a great many things before I left....although ... read more

Greetings friends and family, I am due to leave on my Ugandan adventure on Sunday evening so thought I would send a practice message to see if this works and to let you all know that I am off. I think you can choose to get the email alerts or not so that’s up to you! For those of you that don’t know, I am going to Uganda for four months to work for a conservation sanctuary (‘The Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust’- CSWCT) and to travel the country. CSWCT was established to care for orphaned chimpanzees - rescued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority from poachers and traders, with no chance of survival back in the wild. For the past 10 years CSWCT has owned Ngamba Island in Lake Victoria which has created a sanctuary ... read more

Just thought I'd write a test blog to see if it's all set up right to be honest as I can't be arsed faffing around in some internet cafe in the back of beyond trying to get my account sorted! It's exactly a week tomorrow till I set off on my trip which will take me all round China, SE Asia and finally Oz so it should be a buzz I reckon (assuming I don't blitz my cash on beer and stuff within the first 4 months). lol Hopefully I'll get chance to add bits to this diary fairly regularly once I get out on the road but you never know how it's gonna be until you get there do you? For all I know I might be that busy ballooning round everywhere I hardly ever ... read more
