I arrived at Witham at 6am and jumped into the Jeffmobile. Emily crawled into the back seat and lay down in her sleeping bag with pillow and slept. All the way! We were off, heading to Milton Keynes… to the SNOWDOME!! We got there parked and headed in. Found the snow and got our kit. I looked very sexy in the giant trousers and PINK coat with crash helmet! Mastered posing with a snowboard whilst waiting for our instructor! Charlie (instructor) was fit! Mmm Emily was very happy! We headed to the slopes and began our hour tuition. Snowboarding is FUN. But hard!! I spent most of the hour on my arse. Got very numb bum! Best bit was when I zoomed down the slope (backwards as instructed) and landed on top of Emily’s snowboard - ... read more

I got up at the rather early time of 6.30am and got ready for my first day at work for MWH! I left home at 7.30am and made my way down to Marylebone Train Station in hope to catch the 7.53 train, but missed it by about 2 minutes! Thankfully there are regular trains to High Wycombe, so caught the 7.59 train instead. I read my Bill Bryson book ‘Notes from a Small Island’ that Ben had given me for Christmas last year on the way. I decided to start reading the book again, as now I am a lot more familiar with the locations and names that he talks about (I had no idea what ‘Mark and Spenser’s’, ‘Waterstones’ or ‘Boots’ were until I came here!), plus I have been to some of the towns! ... read more

How we are going to lift these backpacks I just don't know...everyone says to pack light and we really have tried but I guess it's one of those things that has to be learnt through experience rather than being told! So here is our site...we will try and update often with photos etc etc! Keep in touch and leave messages!! Claire xx... read more

Hello everyone! I guess its been a long time since we officially wrote a blog... so we thought we'd better let all those of you who havent seen us that we're back safe and sound in good old Blighty! I know we actually got back a few weeks ago, but after a lot of jetlag, unpacking, marathons of washing, catching up on sleep and job hunting, we just havent got round to it - until now! So what now I hear you ask? Well - back to reality and finding a job and somewhere to live I suppose. Neither has come up with anything substantial yet , although mountains of application forms and CVs have been written! And so everyone keeps asking us 'what was the best bit?' 'What was the highlight of your trip?' But ... read more

I think it's only after you've been travelling for a little while that you can appreciate how awesome it is to have your OWN room and your OWN bathroom and even you very own tv! I'm here in Ascot which is just out of London and home to the famous Ascot horse races. Alas, I'm not here to see London or horse races, but more happily, for my cousin Mala and Damien's wedding (and being that they've been together for over 10 years, it's about time too!) It's great to be able to see my extended UK family again though, and Iqra and Naima - my other cousin Anu's baby girls - have grown up so much they're unrecognisable. Mala looked gorgeous, and the men's clothes were so awesome, so British. Sadly I didn't get anywhere ... read more

There comes a time in every man's life when he must admit that he's getting old and as my 30th fast approached I decided to face it head on and make an event of it, it's not as if our round the world trip has been arranged by Saga!!! STA travel is for students and youngsters (so i keep telling myself). With Carla's birthday on the 27th and mine on the 29th, we had a busy week either side of the 2 dates. Firstly another trip to North london to visit Lorraine and Andy, great food, a comedy club and a relaxing sunday in regents park followed by our first proper good bye before the trip !!!! Carla's birthday came first on the Thursday and with mine on the Saturday we had booked a private room ... read more

Thought we would report on our Car Boot sale in order to raise further travel funds and clear out some of the thousands of books, CDs and DVDs we had filling up Chris Parrys garage. The day began at 5.30am with some of the previous days excitement waining, the car had been filled to the brim the day before so straight to MK bowl to arrive at 6am and set up in the rain with dealers hovering "Got any Jewlery, sweetheart???" "er no, how about a Storm watch that doesnt work?" although a request for CDs was met with a first sale of 8 quid for 7 CDs, were off!!! The rain continued in its finest form, but our spirits were lifted by £15 for a power shower (still boxed) and £20 for a chair on ... read more
