Hello everyone! Since we've been in England we have encountered many new words in the "English" language. Here they are: jumper = sweater, lift = elevator, pants = underwear (we found that out the funny way when the kids laughed at us when we asked them to tuck their shirt into their pants), quid = pound (similar to a buck is a dollar), tramp = homeless person, nicked = steal, tick = checkmark, bumbershoot = umbrella, petrol = gas, mobile = cell phone, bin = trash can, rubbish = trash, rubber = eraser (not condom). If we come across any more, we'll let you know! The Buckingham School is an interesting school. It is a specialist Sports College with approximately 1200 students ranging from grade 7 to 13. The school system and students are completely different ... read more

Hi Class 2, I have a three month trip ahead of me travelling via Colorado to the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean. I will be flying into the British Virgin Islands (BVIs) to the Island of Tortola. The plan is to sail from Tortola to Grenada and then work my way back to the BVIs over the course of 80 days - ask Mrs Mott and she will show you the places on the map. I have been busy over the last few days organising myself and packing everything: clothes, diving equipment, waterproofs, wash bag etc. Now the only thing left to do is get on the plane on Friday! I hope you enjoy reading this travel blog about my adventures in the Caribbean. I will be putting up photos along the way. If you have ... read more

FRIENDS, I JUST DISCOVERED THIS WENT UNPUBLISHED _ SORRY, IT WILL BE OUT OF ORDER, but I THINK I MIXED THINGS UP WHEN I TRIED TO ADD PHOTOS. It's 10:30 on Friday morning and there's a break in the action, so I thought I would write a few lines before we head into the villages of Aylesbury and Wendover. Though we had plans for Stratford-on-Avon, we just didn't think we would have time to "do" the city properly and wrap up things with Pam and Charles. We got up at a leisurely pace this morning after a full day yesterday, enjoyed walking around Wendover (saw Charles' sporting goods shop) shopped in Aylesbury and now doing some laundry in preparation of tomorrow's departure. Our major events on Thursday included an absolutely amazing (I believe I have ... read more

I had typed a bit this morning and then did a quick save as I was interrupted for a while, but now I can't get back to what I had typed. I'm going to continue presuming I can find the other few paragraphs. Basically, I said it was cold (not even up to 60), wet (it's the wettest June on record), and windy - but of course we're having a fabulous time anyway. It's just so special to be in someone's home and to travel with the Chaneys. We have seen the most beautiful countryside and quaint little historic towns. We've gone past sheep farms (with hundreds of shorn sheep) and horse farms, wheat fields, and old, old country estates. We have eaten (and had a few drinks) at OLD pubs (the first one was opened ... read more

We landed safely in Gatwick airport this morning and were greeted by the most gracious hostess imaginable, Mary. She drove us through a seeming labyrinth of backwards highways (probably a combination of a sleepless night and driving on the wrong side of the road) to her and her husband Peter's welcoming home. We feasted on 'tea and toast' (actually delicious freshly baked bread, gourmet cheese and deli meats) before we headed off to Windsor Castle. We enjoyed wandering around the grounds, seeing Queen Mary's doll house, the drawing gallery and the State Apartments. Art by Holbein, van Dyke, Rubens, DaVinci, and Michealangelo (among many others) was displayed in rooms appropriate to the grandour of the subject matter. The Queen was in residence, as signified by the Royal Standard flying from the Round Tower. We may have ... read more

So off to the races.... I wanted a My Fair Lady moment. I even had a black and white dress picked out but at the last minute I changed my mind and decided to go with the most colourful dress I could find! It started off alright, the bus took us right to Ascot, where we were served with Champagne and Cheese, lovely... Then the heavens openned and the rain came tumbling down! We had to take shelter in the bus whilst we waited for it to subside. Into the racecourse we went, staight away our beautifully manicured feet were covered in mud! If we had bothered with fake tan, it didn't actually matter because as we walked the mud flicked up onto the backs of our legs making us a wonderful sight. We did ... read more
