Hello everyone, Sorry that it has been such a long time since the last update but up until last weekend I hadnt been doing anything worthy of adding a blog for. On Valentines day my flat mates and I threw an ANTI- valentines day bash becuase it seemed to be an appropriate theme for everyone! We made tons of food and not enough vodka but it was still a good night for everyone. Now for the exciting part... I went to Sweden this past weekend with 11 other exchange students (mostly Canadians!). On early Friday morning we left for Prestick airport (which is in the middle of no where, but cheap to fly into) and arrived in Gothenburg around lunch time. We landed literally in the middle of a farmers field and were all surpised to ... read more

Hi All So I left Malmo yesterday and took the train to Gothenburg. Leaving Hanna's would have been a lot harder but we had to run for the right bus to take me to the train station and so there was no time to be sad.,. haha Gotherburg is a great city.. I wandered all the cobblestone streets and sat in the outdoor cafe's with a glass or two of wine.. I went to 2 catherdrals and a musuem, but the really cool museum is a floating maritime museum.. They have 13 ships in the harbour that you can check out.. Most of them were built in the early 1900's and have been donated to the musuem. It was so great. I went all the way through an old submarine and you could see where they ... read more

I went to Gothenburg to visit my brother today, the flight to London leaves fairly early tomorrow so I figured I'd rather spend the night in Gothenburg then get up in the middle of the night to catch the train. As Sven had gotten a hold of a whole bunch of hair-mousse they made some freaked out 80's hair display...... read more

We were in Amsterdam for 3 days and stayed very busy seeing the sights and trying to get rid of our jet lag. We next flew to Gothenberg Sweden to visit with our very first exchange student, Kristina who lives with her fiance, Urban. She won’t get married until late in July but we wanted to be able to spend time with here before she had to put her full attention on preparing for the wedding. So we planned to visit early in the month travel around Europe and then return for the wedding. Before we had arrived Kristina has planned our entire visit for us. She had bought a city pass for us which gave us all the museum entries and transport we could cram into one day. When we arrived she gave us a ... read more

Nya Ullevi, Gothenburg, Sweden. Largest arena in the country. The arena that back in 1985 literally caved for Bruce Springsteen. The crowd back then got excited and carried away to the extent that they rocked the foundation of the building until it cracked. No injuries or such, but they decided to close the arena for concerts. Nowadays it’s improved and enhanced, and again open for big concerts. Paul McCartney puts on one of those big shows that requires a stadium of this size. The arena is not completely filled despite the big name and a beautiful summer day, but still around 40,000 people have decided to come see the ex-Beatle perform. Three hours after the announced starting time of the concert Paul enters the stage. Performs some of his known songs, some less known songs. Even ... read more

I was working in Gothenburg at the time when I by blind luck happened to come across a note about a planned visit by the HMS Endeavour. It was announced on the website of the Swedish East Indiaman project, which is tracking the progress of the rebuilding of a replica of the 18th century merchantman Götheborg, a ship that used to ply the trade to South East Asia back in the day. Götheborg met an unfortunate ending when she - after two years of travel - ran aground just outside Gothenburg harbour in 1745, its precious cargo lost in the waves. More than 250 years later a project was started to rebuild a replica of this famous ship. At the time of my visit the ship is slowly nearing completion, and is planned to take a ... read more
