Dana and Paige on plane stairs
This was Dana and Paige boarding the plane for Spain. Saturday the 24th, we got ready to leave for Spain!!!!! Ya I couldn't wait to get there. This was the first flight that I actually was awake taking off and landing. I like to sleep on planes. We arrived in Reus airport quite late and we didn't think we were going to be able to take a bus to Salou so we were looking for a taxi. I happened to spot a bus that said Salou on the front and spoke to the guy and he said no problem where you going. We totally lucked out and the bus dropped us off right in front of our hotel. The hotel was nice and clean and the room had a double and a single bed so it worked out pretty good. We basically dropped our bags, found our flip flops and went down to the beach. It was so cold but we didn't care, we just throw off our shoes and ran through the sand along the ocean. We were like little kids on the beach for the first time. For anyone that doesn't get my sisters emails she had her first toilet experience in Spain at McDonald's. She couldn't figure
Salou
This was just a building we thought was kind of neat. Nothing special. out how to flush it so she decided to wave at it, clap at it thinking it was a censor. After that didn't work she said FLUSH!! Just as she said it a women walked in and kindly gave a hand gesture to how to flush the toilet. Totally embarrassed she finally figure out where the button was to flush the toilet. It was pretty funny! Paige and I had a pretty good laugh at Dana.
Sunday ended up being a really nice day compared to what we have been used too. We missed our breakfast because the time changed and we didn't know since the sign was in Spanish. They were nice enough to sit us at the bar with the rest of the people who didn't know the time changed and gave us coffee and biscuits. We just hang out in Salou for the day. We went walking on the beach with our toes in the sand for as far as we could and then walked back looking through all the shops. Its absolutely gorgeous there and if it would of been a little bit warmer we could of not had our sweaters on. Dinner at the
Salou Fountain
This was a fountain we found on our walk the 1st day we were there. Their trees are quite different. hotel ended up being really crappy and so did the rest of the food for the entire stay! We went into the bar area to have a drink and they had Bingo just starting. We were going to play for shits and giggles however we couldn't understand what they were saying...lol..so we never got to play Spanish bingo.
Monday we took a day trip into Barcelona. It took 2 hours on the train and in the heart of Barcelona we were. People in Barcelona are crazy drivers. At the cross walks as soon as the little green man changes to red don't dare be on the street cause they will run you over. There's soo many scooters too and they park them right on the sidewalk. There so many really neat building with amazing architecture. We decided to do a hop on hop off bus tour to get to see everything. We never actually hoped off the bus except for lunch. We found a all you can eat Salad, Pizza, and Pasta restaurant. It was really good and we figured we should fill up on food so we didn't have to eat the hotel buffet that we paid for.
Dana running around in the sand!!
1st night we arrived we just had to get our toes in the sand. By the end of the day we were all really tired and hoped back on the train to Salou.
Tuesday was our last day in Spain and we had all day before our plane took off. We checked out and went to PortAventura. Its a theme park kinda like Disney Land. Dana was very excited to be there and was running to everything just like a kid. We waited in line for 2 hours to get on one ride. It was worth it though. It was a huge roller coaster with 8 loops. Its the world's most loops for a roller coaster. I was a little nervous and I said I wanted to sit in between the girls. We finally get to the front and through the gate and Dana chooses the VERY FRONT!!! I thought I was being calm until that's where she chose for us to sit. We get in and strapped down and away it goes. It didn't seem so bad as we went up and I figured we were going to dropped but it just turned a corner and then DROPPED for a really long time. We did all these loops and upside down things.
Paige running around in the sand!!
1st night we arrived we just had to get our toes in the sand. I screamed the whole time and though I was going to pee my pants. I didn't thank goodness but man was it ever scary. After that we went and saw a few shows and walked around. In one of the shows there were two girls and they were balancing tables on their feet and spinning them around. Pretty amazing. It was really cold and windy that day so we didn't do any of the water rides. Dana says I'm my mother's daughter when it comes to watching different shows....I can't see it! Anyways it was a really good day and by the time we got on the plane to go back to Glasgow we were all exhausted.
All in all Spain was a really good time and I can't wait to go back in June. I really want to spend a few days in Barcelona and go into museums and hopefully it'll be warmer.
